The Worst Service Ever. My very first time going I was excited bc I heard great things about it, the atmosphere was nice. We Took Our Mother for Mothers day 5/12/2024 , wow where do I start, it was 7:50pm we arrived, we waited not too long sat down, waited for 10min minutes before anyone even served us water it was Not crazy busy bc 3 people were standing at the bar staring at us, the girl finally comes to take our order after the male server had come and never came back.
She is so uninterested and so incompetent about the menu and how to even take care of Guest, she lacked guest services. After finally taking our order an additional 15min later we ordered a stew, Roti and jerk.wings sampler with fritters and empandas... she tells Us at 8.34pm after we had been waiting for just water...It would take about 30min before our food comes out! My mom says Ya know let's go to(Privately) Jasmine's Carribean in Hells Kitchen, we leave Manger comes tells us to stay He will throw in a desert. We didn't need that but mom wants to be nice....
Do you know this Girl server(From Jamaica) cleared our table quicker then she served Us. And then we finally got our food 17min later after we sat Back down..Now 9.15pm and she didn't reset the table apologize or anything she just looked at us and Said Oh your staying. Left 1 bowl on the table and 1 spoon there is 3 of us.
The manager Never Came Back to Check on Us or ask If the Service was any better... they then tell us Oh we know the best dessert for you it's coming. We said wait Mom wants Mango cheesecake they say she'd love the Bread Pudding. Didn't ask us for allergies or what she wants again this is Mothers Day... then we tell them No she wants Mango Cheesecake. that is the one thing they finally agreed too..it was Good. but so confusing bc 1 Server told us 1 thing the other told us another.... What a disaster...
The Lack of Respect Integrity Or Service in General..
Disappointed we slightly lost it at the end.. then they put gratuity on the check Says it's a NY thing...Yeah we live in Harlem .(we Know..liessss. )and We will make sure this never happens again.. you never Treat people this way....
We could Have settled for...

Our server Christina came over and introduced herself. I don’t think I’ve ever had such a warm and personable server as Christina. What a beautiful spirit she has. By the time we left it felt like we had known her for years. She truly enhanced our dining experience at Negril.
And the food? Spot on! We had plantain as appetizers, which were perfectly made. One entree we had was lobster tails with a side of grits. Another was chicken roti. Both were delicious with just the right amounts of seasonings. We also had some crazy delicious drinks. One was passion fruit and another I don’t recall exactly, except for the fact it was tasty and refreshing (that’ll be the white colored one in the pics).
I love the vibe of this place. The music is at the perfect level, (not too loud), and the interior design is pleasing to the eyes. Way back when I used to frequent the old place on 23rd when I lived in Chelsea, but I like the atmosphere at W. 3rd even more.
The only reason I’m not rating Negril higher is because it took an unreasonably long time for our food to come out. We were told that our order had not printed out in the kitchen (or something to that effect). Because of the delay we were unable to make the next event of our evening and had to cancel and reschedule, which was disappointing. While the delay altered our evening plans, after we canceled the next event we were then able to relax more and enjoy the great dishes and environment. Gotta be flexible and roll with it sometimes.
In spite of the above, I’m looking forward to returning (largely because of the amazing service Christina provided), and have already been thinking about what to get next time! In closing I admired the professional, yet warm and personable staff, loved the great food, and just simply enjoyed being there. Give Negril a try, I’m sure you’ll love it. Highly...
Read moreNegril Village has a really nice space—definitely a little dated, but they’ve been around for a long time, so that comes with the territory. The greeters and wait staff were excellent—very hospitable, courteous, and helpful.
The food, however, was just okay for the price. I don’t mind paying $50 for a plate, but it has to taste right and be an ample portion. The portions were on the smaller side and only a couple of people took food home. The ackee and saltfish was tasty, but the rice was very mushy and clumped together instead of shelly and loose the way rice and peas should be in my opinion. One relative commented that it didn't taste fresh. Another said that the Flavor was decent, but texture was off. The salmon was good. In addition, my aunt's meal was supposed to come with asparagus but she received broccoli instead.
My family didn’t care for the chicken and waffles—the fried chicken had way too much breading. (Granted, it’s not a Jamaican dish, so I don’t know why it was ordered from a Jamaican spot anyway.) The jerk chicken was just okay—edible but not memorable. On the plus side, the piña colada and mango punch were delicious.
Overall, nothing was really bad, but nothing was amazing either. I’ve been to hole-in-the-wall Jamaican spots where the food was more exciting, flavorful, plentiful, and half the price. For Negril Village’s reputation, I expected the best Jamaican food in town, and it didn’t quite deliver. I can't say that I'd go back.
And one last thing… when it was time to pay, the server informed me that they do not accept Google Pay or Apple Pay. Really? In 2025? I had planned to use a specific card stored in my phone to earn points, but instead I had to dig out my physical bank card, which was not my intention. I would have appreciated being informed of this policy when I made the reservation. Very...
