Forest Urgent Care — Local services in New York

For an Urgent Care, they have more of a Primary Doctor-type feel.

I moved to New York from a small town in the south, where I had a very nice primary care physician who always made sure you were good to go before sending you on your way. The first time I had to find a doctor here in the city was when I nearly broke my ankle after tripping on some steps in the subway. The next day after that happened, my ankle was turning a dark purple and I couldn't put pressure on it. I opened my phone and began looking for Urgent Care clinics I could get to. Luckily, each place had a rating next to them. I saw this one had a high rating and decided to check it out, not having my expectations too high.

Boy, was I wrong. Dr. Lum and his staff are AMAZING. When I went there for my ankle, he took on-site X-RAYs, explained what was wrong, took the time to ask if anything else was wrong that I needed help with, and made sure I was okay before leaving the building. After that experience, every time I've had to see a doctor since moving, he's the one I see. I had to see him again a couple months later for a UTI and a weird rash. He explained what the rash was, made sure I had the proper medications to treat that and the UTI, and then still asked if there was anything else.

About two months later, I had to go back AGAIN (I'm very accident prone and my immune system still isn't up to par with New York City), this time for a giant hole in my knee (I fell on an escalator and the sharp groove hit the knee, digging out a hole that exposed cartilage and tendons). On site, he numbed my knee, stitched me up, explained why I couldn't stay on it (I was very persistent - to the point of not wanting to get stitches and being adamant about putting neosporin and a band aid on it and calling it a day) and made sure I had a note for my job.

There's a reason I go here for everything. It's about 20 minutes from where I live, but always worth it. Sure, there are clinics and doctor's offices closer to me, and I've checked them out, but they never seem to care and are all too quick to just give you some pills to solve your problems. Dr. Lum won't give you a medication unless you actually need it (I half-expected to be put on a pain killer for my knee, but he even said that popping some Tylenol should be good...he was right). You guys have GOT TO BE KIDDING ME with all these BOGUS WONDERFUL REVIEWS!!! They are TERRIBLE and DO NOT EVEN DESERVE the ONE STAR!!!! They misdiagnosed my family member TWICE claiming a common COLD... TOO BAD both visits were misdiagnosed as my family member is SITTING IN A HOSPITAL BED for week TWO as we speak with SERIOUS, LIFE THREATENING ISSUES stemming from their missing CLEARLY STATED reports n testing done there... This place is not even worthy to care for ANIMALS!!!!! If you can’t read on SIMPLE TESTS that there was a serious issue, then u should NOT be in practice the END!!!!! My family member BETTER SURVIVE THIS!!!!! Anyone in search of an urgent care facility, FORGET THIS PLACE!!!! I called to find out who is the director of the establishment n the front desk when I ask goes from professional to ghetto... when I asked the response received was “ WHY U WANNA KNOW? “ give me the patients date of birth... like REALLY??? My LAWYER will get the name of the director sweetie, now don’t you worry!!!!! This place needs to GO!!!!!!! I’m afraid to know if they missed something so SIMPLE on my family member, HOW MANY OTHERS have they done this to???? I intend on putting complaints EVERYWHERE from the American Medical Association, all the way down to the State Licensing Board... SOMEONE IS GOING TO ANSWER FOR THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!! I normally go here if I need to see a doctor quick and for the most part I always had a good experience with a female doctor at this location . January I went in with pain in my abdomen and distended stomach which o had had for several days. I also wanted to get checked for COVID. It was so cold that day there was a line outside I waited 30 to 40 mins to get in apparently Dr Lum was the only one there that day I explained to him my reason for coming in. He checked my stomach and called in an ultrasound tech he took blood and was rushing. He told me to wait for tech to do test 40 mins and when I asked was he going to do COVID test he replied I have alot of patients like he was bothered he did it I had ultrasound done and went in my way to wait on results. A week later still feeling bad I called for results was left on hold several times front desk was so unprofessional even hung up on.I wound up going some here else We are now in Feb I never got ultrasound results although I’m sure he charged my insurance called. today to try again Alex Front desk said they would email them to me That was never done.
