New Pinang has become my second home over the past five years, and each visit has been an extraordinary adventure into the heart of authentic Chinese cuisine. The owner and the greeter, both fluent in Chinese, have played a pivotal role in making my dining experiences truly exceptional. Their willingness to engage in heartfelt conversations has not only deepened my understanding of Chinese culture, but it has also provided valuable insights into the inner workings of the restaurant industry.
One of the highlights of my time at New Pinang has been the owner's generous sharing of financial knowledge. Through our conversations, I learned about the importance of human capital in running a successful restaurant. The realization that the chef's wage alone amounts to $5000 per month shed light on the dedication and expertise invested in every dish that graced my table. It's no wonder their food consistently exceeds expectations.
Moreover, the greeter's invaluable guidance on managing difficult customers has been a game-changer. Their wisdom and practical tips have equipped me with the tools to handle challenging situations with grace and poise. The staff at New Pinang has a remarkable ability to turn even the most demanding patrons into loyal fans, a testament to their exceptional customer service.
In conclusion, New Pinang has not only satisfied my taste buds but has also enriched my understanding of Chinese culture and the intricacies of running a successful restaurant. The owner's financial guidance and the greeter's invaluable advice on customer service have made a lasting impact on me. The exceptional food, warm hospitality, and attention to detail make New Pinang a truly remarkable dining destination. It is with utmost pleasure and gratitude that I recommend this culinary gem to anyone seeking an unforgettable...
Read moreA decent Malay restaurant, even if it doesn't stand out.
For appetizer, we had the roti canai, a thin wide and folded crepe with a side dish of chicken curry to dip into. This was good as the crepe was fresh and crispy, yet also chewy in places.
For entree, we had a curry noodle soup, as well as a salt-and-pepper fried porkchop dish. The porkchop was very tasty, with a generous portion. The batter was light and crispy, the meat tender and well seasoned.
My curry soup was good, filled with two types of noodles, spiced chicken, and bean sprouts. However, the broth was a bit uninspiring; it was a mild curry that did not stand out much. It was okay in my opinion, but I did not crave more of it... it was more like a comfort food.
As for atmosphere, it is quiet but somewhat dim. The space is long with open front windows, but the paint is medium green and the lights are low. Some table have a light overhead, some do not. Staff...
Read moreThis is a lovely Malaysian Restaurant probably of the best in Queens. The interior design isn’t too lively but the colors are bright enough to take good pictures. Parking isn’t really a problem. There’s plenty of parking everywhere around Queens Blvd and Austin St. If you don’t need meat this restaurant has a perfect vegetarian menu. The prices are great and the portions are good enough to share. This restaurant probably has the best customer service in Forest Hills. All the waiters and waitresses are attentive and friendly. You don’t need to make reservations or wait at all to get a table. One of my favorite things about this restaurant besides the food is the environment. I don’t have too many negatives except for the bathroom. It feels like you leave a nice restaurant to go through a maze to get to their bathroom in the basement. Other than that there’s nothing really wrong with this restaurant. Great...
