If you know Joe (my fiancƩ) and I, then you know how much we love the movie "White Chicks". So when I saw Fork N' Film was having a showing of the movie I just HAD to get Joe and I tickets.
Like most of you who have heard of this business, I found out about it on instagram and immediately fell in love with the concept. You watch a movie and simultaneously eat the food you see in the movie?! Count me in! This is the stuff millennials are made for!
We arrived about 30 minutes before showtime, as the confirmation email had informed us that's when the doors opened. I wanted to wash my hands upon arrival so I made my way to the bathroom where I was immediately met with a terrible smell and no hand soap in any of the dispensers. I walked out and waited for Joe, who had went to use the men's bathroom. When he came out he has asked me if I had seen the person who exited before him and if he worked there. I answered yes to both and disgustingly he stated "He didn't wash his hands..." I was super grossed out but tried to push the thought out of my mind. Maybe he had hand sanitizer? Maybe he wouldn't be handling food? I literally tried to think any thought other than what Joe had witnessed as we had just arrived and I really wanted to have a good time.
I think it's important to note I paid for VIP tickets, which was a big price jump from the standard seating. I thought this would mean maybe we'd have an extra round of food, or maybe something complimentary. All it meant was that our table was closest to the screen. I wish I knew that before dropping over $500 for these tickets.
As far as the food goes, I was disappointed. The first thing we were given was a small bowl of popcorn. It was the saltiest popcorn I had ever eaten in my life. Then was the NiƧoise salad which lacked dressing and was very small. The next course didn't even make sense was the course was called "pure vanilla ice cream", the corresponding scene had vanilla ice cream in it, but what was served was a parsnip soup. I couldn't even tell you what the next course tasted like but I can say I hated it. Titled "the b*tch fit", you can see in the picture of the menu I added what it consisted of. I took a bite and left the rest right there on the plate. The main of short ribs was cool the penne pasta it came with was flavorless and overcooked.
Again, for what I paid I was expecting a lot more. The concept is great but the execution just didn't cut it for me. I don't think I will be back for this until there is a revamp. The best part of the experience was watching the movie with other fellow White Chicks lovers. Wall laughed like it was the first time we were...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUPDATE: THEY DO NOT provide you a REFUND YOU WHEN THEY CANCEL EVENT. Upon reading other reviews, I am not the only one who experience this. It's unprofessional and I will be reporting them to BBB. It's been 3 months and I still have yet received my refund. They also don't respond back to your emails in a timely fashion. This was my second visit, and itās safe to say this concept is exactly what todayās society needs: a creative, out-of-the-box way to enjoy dinner and a movie.
You eat what you watch! Yes, every dish is inspired by the movie on screen, which makes the experience not only immersive but also surprisingly delightful. The menu keeps you guessing, and I was genuinely impressed with the creativity and presentation of each course.
At first, I thought the pricing was steep, but when you break it down, itās on par with a typical date night. Think about itāyouāre getting: A 5-7 course meal 2-3 specialty drinks + unlimited champagne and popcorn Live music before the movie starts A complimentary photo with your guest
whoeverās behind the bar deserves a standing ovation because those drinks? Absolutely divine.
Now, hereās the tea:
The food is delicious, though it heavily depends on the movieās theme. My tip? Choose a movie with lots of food-centric scenes (think Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs or Princess and the Frog). Iām still waiting for them to have Soul Food as a stapleāthose tickets sell out FAST! Timing can be a little off. Ideally, the food should arrive during the corresponding scene, but itās delayed. I get itāitās a logistical challenge, but it does break the flow a bit. Pacing could be better. The portions are small, but the courses come out quickly, and by the end, I was so full I could barely finish! Iād love a little more time between plates to enjoy and digest. Overall, Forks n Films is an unforgettable experience. The concept, the atmosphere, and the thoughtful touches make it well worth the visit. Whether youāre a foodie, a film buff, or just looking for a fresh date night idea, it's worth checking out....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy best friend and I just attended the Thursday showing of Beauty and the Beast in NYC and we had the most awful experience. First for 200 dollars and from what we have seen via instagram expectations were high and we decided to celebrate my birthday doing this, however from when we came in and sat down till the end of the movie the night was a huge disappointment. The place does not change for NYC, so how is it the hotels fault that the room is freezing and then we are told there is nothing they can do, then they did not start on time, the commentary champagne came after the movie started and this theme continued through out the night, of nothing coming out when it should for half the room. The other half of the room had everything on time and they received two of everything, where we were told not just once but twice all the plates were shared (no where did is ever say each of the courses where shared and based off of all the instagrams this was never suggested). When we called it out the first time we were told the waitress was wrong and then it happened again!! Then we never received our drinks for the Gaston song and were told they ran out of alcohol!!!!! We got the drinks 20 minutes later with an extra plate of cold food (all the food was cold and gross) and given a free bottle of champagne from the crying waitress who kept saying she loves her job and blamed the other waitress. All in all the service was terrible (except for the waitress who did her job the best and got blamed by everyone) the place was cold, the food was cold and in the end the manager Chris finally came over and basically told Us to write a review and tell us to reach out and complain, there is nothing he can do, he had broken ovens and just stood there blaming the other waitress. This was the biggest waste of 200 dollars and the worst experience ever and since there is so many negative reviews, makes me wonder if the manager, Chris even cares about the bad reviews, because nothing seems to...
