Buyer Beware!! If I could give zero stars, I would. I had the single worst buying experience I have ever had at this appliance dealer. I bear part of the blame. Here's what happened: I needed a new stove to replace the old Amana that was in my apartment when I bought it 15 years ago. I hate shopping, so I measured the Amana and ordered a new GE the same size online to replace it. I prefer to give my business to smaller stores rather than the big box chains, so I chose Gringer's. When the stove arrived, it would not fit through the front door, and since the kitchen door is even smaller, I had no choice but to refuse delivery and send it back. Little did I know that Gringer's calls every order a "special order", and they have a no exchange/no refund/no return policy. They sent over a contractor who measured and told me that I would have to rip out part of my kitchen wall to fit it. I then asked for a refund, only to be told that they would not return my money. The rep, Amaury, was extremely combative and rude. He told me, incorrectly, that no full-sized stove would fit, and I should get a lawyer but I would lose in court. He then sent me no fewer than 14 bullying emails in one day. At that point I asked to speak with the store manager, Allan Schuster. Allan was helpful and polite and eventually recommended a different stove, an Electrolux, that would fit. He told me that they are not set up for online shopping, and to "ignore" the website, as they don't keep it updated. The reason that I am still giving only one star is that I ended up paying triple for the delivery/installation/removal. He would only substitute the new stove if I agreed to pay the same amount as I would have for the GE, despite the fact that the Electrolux is a less expensive stove. They charged the regular delivery and removal charge plus double the regular installation fee for the trouble of removing the oven door on both the old and new stove to fit it through the door. I agreed because I needed the nightmare over. They claimed that the exorbitant fee was to cover the $2200 stove that they claim they now can't sell because it was unboxed. Never again. Do not use this dealer unless you are absolutely certain that you will never need to return or exchange your...
Read moreBUYER BEWARE!! Gringer & Sons knowingly SELLS and INSTALLS DEFECTIVE Merchandise!! Terrible (NO) Customer Service!! I recently bought a Fisher Paykel dishwasher; the installers knowingly installed the unit with a bottom drawer that was stuck open at the first use, couldn’t close. When I called Gringer, the manager Allen Schuster, said the installer’s HAD TOLD HIM, THE DAY THEY INSTALLED IT, something was wrong with the bottom drawer. Neither Wesley Thompson the salesperson nor Allen Schuster the manager contacted me to remedy the situation. When I called, Allen Schuster said ITS NOT OUR PROBLEM, ALL SALES ARE FINAL, even though it was not stated on the receipt. It was now my responsibility to have it covered through warranty. Neither of them was proactive addressing the situation and took offense that I was not willing to accept a defective product. I wrote the President of the company, Michael Weinman and the Vice-President Lewis Shenker, describing my dissatisfaction with receiving a defective unit. Neither of them responded, Allen Schuster sent an email saying they were going to replace the unit; but since I had complained, they were insulted and were not going to do anything. HUH!! NO ONE from Gringer made any attempt to make such an offer, THEY NEVER DID PROVIDE ANY CUSTOMER SERVICE!! This was INJURY added to INSULT!! seeing as, Wesley Thompson handled the initial sale, in spite of being told I am only being available on certain days; therefore scheduling two weeks out from the purchase; he called at the last minute wanting to change to a day that I was not available. When I insisted they honor the original commitment date, he had to call the customer he had put in my time slot for permission to change, then, said Gringer would keep their commitment to me because the other customer was so accommodating. HUH??? DO NOT BUY ANYTHING, EVER FROM...
Read moreMy wife and I live between Park and Madison in the 70's on the upper east side in a designed apartment with a small kitchen. We were nervous about replacing our microwave and gas range because great care would be required to install the new appliances precisely in the existing cut-out spaces in our custom-built kitchen; and damage could easily be done. I spent a lot of time shopping appliance retailers with my contractor, and Gringer (103 years in business!) killed the competition. I purchased a beautiful stainless steel 30-inch Verona gas range and an over-the-range GE microwave. Jean, our salesperson at Gringer, was courteous, thorough, and expertly informed. I peppered her with questions during and after the sale and she was beyond terrific. New laws require plumbers to disconnect and reconnect gas lines prior to removal of old gas ranges and installation of new gas ranges. So, we had a parade of (1) the plumber disconnecting the gas line (2) the Gringer delivery of the gas range and microwave (3) the plumber re-connecting the gas line, and (4) the Gringer installer, installing the gas range and microwave. Everything was done with extreme care, courtesy and perfection (during COVID-19), where other companies might have done a "slap-dash" job that could have easily caused damage or complications. So, there are not enough stars here on Google to express my delight with Gringer, their delivery people, their installation people and Jean!!! Thank...
