I would NOT recommend working with Hair and Makeup by Dilan In short, they were: Not transparent with pricing - lashes not included in original pricing and this was only mentioned after I paid a deposit Not transparent that the hair/makeup artist they were sending did not even regularly work with them; refused to give me any contact info even for the day of my wedding The hair/makeup artist did not do a good job on my hair and I had to fix it myself and ended up being late to my own wedding

Long review: I honestly have no idea how this group has such good reviews. I had such a bad experience with them. I initially saw photos of the work and was excited to book hair and makeup for my wedding day. Because I live in San Francisco, I was not able to do a makeup and hair trial and just relied on reviews and the photos that were posted on the website. I emailed the group and got a quote of $450 for hair and makeup. I went with this and paid the deposit (half the price).

Closer to the time of the wedding, I started getting more nervous because I realized I wanted a more natural makeup look and all the photos on the website/instagram were heavier. I emailed the team to ask if I could find out who my makeup artist was and whether I could see their portfolio. That's when I learned that they had not even assigned anyone for me and apparently they do not assign anyone (despite me putting down the deposit) until I paid in full. This honestly seemed very shady. I told them I was concerned that I didn't want to go thru with them unless I knew the makeup artist was able to deliver a more natural look and they said they understood and would send me a few different artists' portfolios right away - this did not happen. Instead, they later said I had to send them photos of what I wanted and only afterwards could they share the portfolio of the makeup artists. They also ended up only sending one portfolio.

During this whole mess, they also happened to mention that the initial price they quoted didn't included lashes. WHICH IS THE MOST RIDICULOUS THING I'VE EVER HEARD. I've had my hair/makeup done before and lashes are always included - this also wasn't something they specified until AFTER I put my deposit down. Instead, they added an additional charge.

Because the portfolio of the person they sent looked good, I ended up just going along with things. It wasn't until closer to my wedding day that I asked for the makeup artist's contact info and they DENIED me. They would not give me the contact info which was so absurd.

On the day of my wedding, the makeup artist showed up. I found out through her that she does not regular work with Hair and Makeup by Dilan and just independently contracts with them. She did a good job on my makeup but didn't come prepared with anything to give me a sample of the lipstick so I could reapply it through the night. Instead I had to call to my hotel so they would bring some aluminum foil for her to put the lip color in there.

For some reason, she assumed I wanted my hair straightened so only brought a hair straightener with her. I told her I wanted my hair to be wavy so she curled my hair with the straightener. This was such a DISASTER. She said she finished and I checked the mirror and the waves were not even and there were multiple areas that were still straight. It looked bad. I had to point this out to her, have her correct it, and then she would try again - I really don't understand how this became my responsibility and how she didn't realize that the hair was not wavy. After a few times and after the time became later and later, I just gave up and said I was fine with it.

I was quoted that hair and makeup would take 1:30 hours but it ended up taking over 2 hours. NOT TO MENTION, I had to spend another 30 minutes curling my own hair afterwards so that it wouldn't look awful. Meaning that I ended up being 30 minutes late to my own wedding (when I had previously accounted for an hour of cushion time with hair/makeup) because the person that this group sent...

Hair and Makeup by Dilan is truly spectacular! Dilan Beauty Studio has a true balance of professionalism, attitude and amazing flair and myself and my bridesmaid enjoyed every minute of getting ready with her on our day. She doesn't miss a detail and from trial to wedding day she didn't miss a beat in communicating either. she truly made our wedding day something special. Her Team is also very professional and great atmosphere on a hectic day to be around. Thank you for making my big day come out Fantastic. I know I was first specifically about all the details I wanted for my wedding theme but they paid attention to all my requests and delivered it just as how I imagined my dream wedding. Highly appreciate your hardwork dedication and effort. Can only recommend them....

The best hair and makeup team!! Dilan and the Team made my day so special and stress free!! They even worked ahead of schedule and made sure everyone was happy! To say I was obsessed with my makeup would be an understatement. I felt and looked amazing, beautiful and confident on my big day! My mother loved her look and also how the morning went! The team arrived on time and were very professional. I would recommend them to ANYONE who needs their wedding makeup done but especially for a wedding.
