Disappointing Experience for a Birthday Dinner I held my birthday dinner at Roof Taco for a group of 8. I had been to this location previously when it was Salsa Picante and found the food decent but the service lacking. With the rebrand, I decided to give it another shot, but unfortunately, the service was still a major issue.
Pros: ✔️ Simplified menu – Makes ordering easier. ✔️ Quality food and drinks – Tasty and well-prepared. ✔️ Nice ambiance – Both indoor and outdoor spaces are well-designed.
Cons: ❌ Overworked staff = poor service – Everything took way too long. ❌ Last-minute reservation issues –
40 minutes before my reservation, I was told only an igloo was available because they were booked inside for a private party.
This was shocking since I made my reservation weeks ago.
It was cold and rainy, and I had to push back to get an inside table.
Upon arrival, I was told the igloos were no longer available anyway—so why ask me to come early?
❌ Service was chaotic and slow:
Drinks took forever – Only half the table got theirs at first, and some were forgotten, including my husband’s.
Food was staggered – Half of our group got their meals first, while the rest waited another 10-15 minutes.
Waitstaff stretched too thin – Our server was also the hostess and spent much of the night on the phone.
❌ Guacamole portion was ridiculously small –
Ordered two servings, but they seemed barely enough for a small group, let alone eight people.
Felt like a "bring your own avocado" situation.
❌ No chip refills – Even though we asked multiple times.
❌ Disjointed experience –
Multiple excuses from staff (system down, kitchen delays, bar delays).
Made the night stressful instead of enjoyable.
One positive note: The small birthday cake and candle celebration was a nice touch. However, overall, I cannot recommend Roof Taco for group events or even a simple dinner with my husband. Ironically, I keep getting emails from them about hosting events, but based on this experience, I wouldn’t trust them with another event unless service...

I stopped in for dinner and tried the pina coladas, salsa, guacamole and enchiladas. Everything was delicious. We also ordered the elote and birria tacos.
All of the food was very fresh and flavorful. I would definitely order all of these food options again; I'd like to try out more of the menu next time though.
Roof Taco recently opened; they have a downstairs restaurant area, upstairs bar and dining room and outdoor roof space.
This would be a great place to have a nice dinner or a party.
The staff was friendly and attentive. I got here around 4, which is when the upstairs opens for dinner. By the time I left around 6:30 it was more crowded.
I highly recommend this place! I can't wait to go back and try more of their entrees. They also have...
Read moreMy organization has hosted our annual Margarita Mixer at Roof Taco (aka Salsa Picante) for several years now and it is always a hit!
The rooftop setting could not be more perfect on a nice spring night, but even this year when the weather forced us inside, they were ready to accommodate with a great indoor setup.
The staff is always friendly, helpful, and welcoming. They make me look good as the event organizer when I am really mostly just taking credit for their work. 😂
The food is yummy and they are able to offer a variety to fit dietary needs and the margaritas are just the best! Roof Taco is our go-to spot for...
