I grew up in the area and went to pedigree ski shop often so always felt loyal to it. When I switched from skiing to snowboarding, I had incredible service here. Yesterday, about 2 years later, when I took my boyfriend to get his own board/boots/bindings, Ashley was incredibly rude to us, didn't even get up when we walked in, seemed disinterested in our questions, and reprimanded us for not playing with the step-in bindings ourselves (After we looked at a few options and had questions, he said "didn't I just tell you to pick them up yourselves? How are you going to get to know your gear without playing with it? I told you that." Sure, this may be true, but can you maybe do your job as a salesperson and actually help us and show us how to use them? we have never seen or used them before, so how are we supposed to know how they work? We came in to learn about and buy a product, not get mocked and reprimanded for not knowing something). He was short with my boyfriend and seemed to literally not care whether we were going to buy anything or not (we ended up getting boot/board/bindings/jacket in the end, but I was ready to walk right out of there after we were treated so dismissively). We only stayed because I know the product is actually good, but had this been a restaurant I would've walked out.
Luckily Aaron (at least that's whose name was on the receipt) was very kind and told us Ashley can be hard to read but is very knowledgeable--which I remembered from my excellent experience with him years ago, which is why this was such a weird experience. Ashley also had other customers come in and he was instantly much nicer to them than he was to us. It felt like we weren't worthy of his knowledge because we were too amateur or something? I felt like we had to prove to him we have snowboarded before, which is kind of ridiculous as you should be serving all levels of boarders. I don't know if he was having an off day or what, but I saw absolutely no reason for how my boyfriend was treated and to be honest probably won't be getting stuff here again,...
Read moreI came here for tune-ups for two of my snowboards, which I needed a quick turnaround time on due to a charity event I'm participating in. I stopped by the night before to speak with Dave and inquire about the likelihood of getting my snowboards done by end of day Saturday so that I can use them on Sunday. Dave assured me that it would be no problem as the team would be able complete the task by Saturday afternoon. I told Dave that I would be back the next day with my snowboards as per our conversation. Dave stated that he would be in however, in the off chance that he stepped out before my arrival, please feel free to work with his co-worker Ryan and let him know that I spoke with Dave and Ryan would take it from there. I come into the store tonight and Dave was there. He recalled who I was and our conversation about the tune-ups and quick turnaround time. They thoroughly went over the condition of both snowboards and let me know of their findings. They also let me know if any additional services would be recommended and possibly highly recommended, and made me aware of the additional costs that would be incurred for the additional repairs. We had some very friendly conversations about various things from snowboarding to pop culture and etc. Definitely feel very comfortable with the level of experience and expertise here and the passion for providing excellent service and quality work. I'll happily come back for...
Read moreWe made the hour-long trip to 44 Board today to get snowboard rentals for our three kids. We'd been going to a "barn" in Paramus, NJ and have had terrible encounters - staff making us feel like we were putting them out when we asked to try different sizes/brands since certain boots are not always the best fit for every foot; ill-fitting bindings that were either too small or too large for the boots; old equipment that badly stunk of foot odor and boards that were unwaxed (they offered to wax them if we paid a fee). In general, a few staff members just had a condescending attitude and it made for a stressful buying experience.
Today was the complete opposite. Dave and Derek were professional, accommodating, friendly, and helpful. They made an effort to chat with my kids and got them excited for the season. They were happy to offer a variety of different options, both for renting and possible purchases in the future, and I didn't feel pressured to just accept the first thing they brought out.
Dave did say if we went in in December, he wouldn't have been able to spend as much time with us, and that is completely understandable. Overall, from the minute we got greeted as we walked in to the end when we were walking out, we felt like valued customers. Dave even gave us lunch recommendations! It was a much more pleasant experience than we've been used to. We...
