Bad business. I researched and decided to use Melinda based on golden reviews on both Yelp and Google. My cousin whom recently got married wanted Melinda to style her hair on-site in on the morning of the wedding and I offered to pay for it considering her other expenses. I wanted her wedding day to be special from beginning to end specifically because both her parents have passed on and she has little family to rely on. The price/place was agreed upon ahead of time, ($250) and Melinda appeared to be easy to work with and a lifesaver considering she was willing to travel to the location to style my cousin's hair. On the morning of the wedding she called my cousin and told her that she would not style her hair unless she paid an additional $100 because the location in Brooklyn was a different location than was previously agreed upon (my cousin had attempted to convey the location change the night prior). She was cold, unapologetic and my cousin was thoroughly upset. I felt extremely bad because upsetting my cousin was the last thing I wanted on her wedding day. Paying the additional $100 was no problem for me, but Melinda's attitude according to my cousin was cold and indifferent as she styled her hair; the up-do when I actually did see it was absolutely not worth $360 but my cousin was more or less pleased with it which is all that mattered. I would never recommend Melinda again, she was heartless, cold, and I still feel bad that I referred her ...

Melinda is hands down THE BEST. When I first went to Melinda my hair was in terrible shape--broken-off, dry, unhealthy looking--and she's helped my hair make a miraculous recovery. First Melinda cut what little hair I had left into probably the chicest bob I could ever have, so I felt like I could finally stop wearing a nub ponytail. And then after to going to her about once a week for a few months, my hair started growing again. When I decided I was too impatient with nature's timeline for hair growth, she made and put in the perfect extensions (the dye job was a perfect match for my natural hair color) and now that my hair is the length that I want it (long again after just under a year with her help) I go to her for weekly blow-outs because nobody makes me look better.

Long way of saying that Melinda is the best stylist I've ever been too--for everything, cuts, extensions, a simple blow out. She's fast, punctual, a ton of fun to hang out with while you're in the chair and the salon itself is clean, bright, and stylish. in a really perfect location (when you feel like hot stuff after leaving the salon, it's right around the corner from excellent bars to go hang out in...

The positive.. she showed attention to details. The negative... the pricing felt like a rip off. I'm afraid I will not return on that basis. I came for a relaxer touch up and trim, and I had 5 extension tracks to take out. It cost me over $380 plus some products, so total about $400... all for nothing special at all. She just said 'oh you didn't tell me you needed to take the extensions out', and when it came to the trim she said she would charge a full haircut. Beside those comments during the service, she gave me no heads up that these add-ons would in fact triple the cost of the service. I suppose this place is simply not adapted to my needs and caters most to a different...
