Zest is my go-to sushi spot in the Lower East Side. Although the place is small, there is never more than a half hour wait. I think it's because most people probably see the crowd and leave, instead of attempting to wait for a table. Oh well! That just means less of a wait for me to get my sushi on!

They have happy hour Mon-Fri 3:30 - 7, and Sat/Sun 12-7. During this time, they have $3.50 appetizers and basic rolls, $10 pitchers, $3 beers, and $4-$5 wine. I believe they have sake too but since I don't really drink that, I can't remember. Avoid any of the wines - it tastes worse than boxed wine. Just stick to the beer and you'll be fine.

Onto the food - there's this special roll called the Passion Roll. It is lobster salad, spicy tuna, mango, avocado and crunch wrapped with soy paper. I really like this roll because it's a nice and interesting change if you want a break from your typical seaweed + rice rolls. It's also not too heavy so you won't feel too stuffed afterwards. Of course, you can't go wrong with their other rolls. The fish tastes fresh and they give you more of it than rice (unlike other places that try to just stuff you with rice, and you're left wondering where the fish is)!

As long as Zest keeps on keepin' on, I'll continue to make this my...

I went three times to Zest and it ended with the waiter screaming at me and there was no one to report any information to. During all visits the waiters were rude. First time, the waiter was impatient and angry. The second time, the waiter rudely said how are you gonna eat all of this alone and cringed; that waiter was also impatient and frustrated so I did not tip because he was rude. He picked the check and waited for me to walk to the door, and asked “no tip?” So I said no, he replied loudly with “good!” The third visit was the worst. I did not tip because rude waiters don’t deserve more money, as they’re ruining customers’ evenings. When the waiter saw the receipt that had no tip, he said customers don’t tip if there is an issue with the service and that the service is good at Zest so he will charge 15% for the tip, so I said that I do not tip at Zest and that no one will change my tip, so he literally screamed at me and said that if I ever come here again he will charge me extra money, and walked to a waiter and told her to remember me because I will pay 15% extra. I do not understand how there is no management to report issues like these. I am still waiting for my transaction to be processed to make sure he didn’t...

We tried this place for the 1st time. Small cozy place. When we arrive this place is still quite. No need to wait to be seated. Food is quite good. We have sushi and kitchen food. The appetizer its ok. We got takoyaki and purple fries. The salmon teriyaki is good. We got the lunch special, it came with half roll of california roll also. Also we order the special roll i think its called snow mountain or something like it. Its is a shrimp tempura with lobster salad on top. I got that hint of yuzu flavor. I love this roll. Also the yellowtail serrano is good. For us, the green tea mochi ice cream dessert is good. Price wise is not bad. We have 4 lunch special, appetizers, special rolls and desserts, it cost us about 100$ish. Update: Still as good as always. We've been here for few times already. We tried other appetizer, i don't remember the name it is thai something, its like a spring roll with a different kind of skin, and have shrimp and crab in it. Really good. We also think they can improve the taste of...

Best happy hour in the city!! If you love sushi and drinks you have to stop by here especially during their happy hour. It’s from 3:30pm-7:00pm with a $6 per item happy hour menu of hand rolls, appetizers, drinks, and more. The sushi itself was absolutely delicious! We ordered the spicy salmon, spicy tuna, and yellowtail. The spicy rolls were very flavorful without the spicy mayo taste of typical spicy rolls and even and had a little crisp to them. We also had the takoyaki which I loved, it was very flavorful and had only a subtle fishy taste. You HAVE to come here if you love good sushi and happy hour deals. On a Tuesday around 4pm we only waited at most five minutes to be seated and the service was very attentive for how busy the restaurant was. They also have outdoor seating which is great for the summer!

This place has become my favourite sushi spot in New York city! They just tick all the boxes in terms of food quality, service and the vibe. I went there for lunch on my wife’s birthday and everything was perfect. Although we wanted to sit outdoors but they were really busy so we had to sit inside. The service was great the food doesn’t take long to order. They also have a great happy hour menu which starts from 4:30 to 7 pm. Make use of their happy hour menu its a bargain. I ordered 2 of the crispy sushi thingy! just ask the server they know what you’re looking for. The octopus tentacle was very good and also the crab salad. The portions are perfect for sharing so i got to taste everything. The beef fried rice is also very good. I will definitely return again to try different items.

This place is pretty cool. The location is great and the happy hour speaks for itself, the happy hour menue consists of $5 everything food and drink. I'm not surprised that this spot is in high demand the quality is nothing to complain about and the service is fast. Upon arrival you may notice that there doesn't appear to be a hostess; there is, s(he) maybe running around helping out the team but you are never too far from help. The space seemed to be quite small yet spacious. The fried oyster ? Good. The fried rice ? Great . The dumplings? Phenominal and the sushi rolls ( forgot the names there were too many to list) D-lish. The mid day lighting was well suited, the outdoor seating was definitly an option but, it was a bit too hot to soak up some sun .
