Contrary to many yoga attendees- I had no real physical injuries or ailments to address at Hot Yoga. My only issue was a lack of flexibility. As an avid runner/cyclist, my hamstrings and lower back had very little flexibility (a prescription for possible injury). My wife had lower back issues and was attending Hot Yoga for therapeutic purposes. She asked if I'd like to join her at Hot Yoga- I hesitantly agreed. The first week was very difficult- between getting use to the poses, the heat, the sweating- I thought it wasn't for me. After the second week, I was pleasantly surprised I could easily bend down and effortlessly touch my toes! That was it! After 2 years of Hot Yoga, I can't help but smile when I easily perform simple everyday tasks like balancing on one foot to put my socks and shoes on or performing the awkward pose to get stuff from a lower shelf. As a more senior attendee (age-wise not years practicing) I can say this routine has turned back the cruel hands of time. Between the friendly, no pressure instructors and the comradery of fellow yoga students, attending Hot Yoga classes is a welcome addition to my...
Read moreI have no point of reference, since this is the only yoga studio I've ever practiced at, but this place is fantastic. I always feel well-treated here; instructors make an effort to know the students, classes are usually no more than 35 students or so, and the folks who work here are very friendly.
The instructors are all competent, but I suppose everyone will have teachers they prefer. Tomoko, the manager of the studio, is terrific. Very helpful (when I had an issue with my account, she quickly rectified the situation) and probably my favorite instructor, though really everyone here is very good.
The changing space is pretty small --- one communal area for folks to unpack, and about 4 dressing rooms to change clothes. Not really a big deal; just something to be prepared for.
The 60 minute classes are NOT "easier" than the 90 minute classes, at least just beacuse they're shorter. You'll be moving a lot more during the 60-min, and it almost feels like a different workout altogether. I enjoy mixing it up a bit.
Definitely worth checking out if you're into Hot Yoga and in the...
Read moreIts been 4 years since I first came to this studio, and although each day is different, I am always amazed how it helps me in mind and body. And I was a mess when I first came, both weight wise and otherwise. The yoga eliminated my chronic asthma, helped me lose a lot of weight (30+lbs) and healed my knee, lower back and and some pulled muscles in my abdomen. However, the best benefits to me, by far, are the mental benefits. I am a far calmer person, and I think am easier to be around than before. As far as the studio itself, it is kept very clean, and the instructors are top-notch, helpful, knowledgeable and extremely patient. My fellow students also are a big reason to practice yoga here, they are among the warmest, kindest group of people I know. Overall, HotYoga4You has been a positive force for good in my life, and I frequently recommend it to my family and friends because I want them to experience the same feelings of well being, health and center-ness that practicing hot yoga here...
