Having lived in and shopped in NYC for over 70 years, this is the worst store experience i have ever had. My wife took a burnt out halogen reflector bulb to the store for replacement and purchased two. My building superintendent installed one in our kitchen hood. The bulb burnt out and blew a fuse located far inside the hood, requiring an electrician to replace it. The store staff in a chorus with the cashier insisted they gave my wife what she asked for despite the fact she doesn't know a watt from a volt and merely handed them the burnt out one.
I returned to the store and was told the correct wattage bulb was out of stock and would be ordered and delivered to me at my nearby Apt. I gave cashier my credit card. Correct bulbs were received but accompanying invoice not sen previously seemed incorrect I returned and tried to get it clarified by a staff member who impatiently tried to hear the full story while another staffer behind the counter kept loudly incorrectly correcting me. Wearing hearing aids unable to deal with multiple voices, I told him to keep quiet and let me finish with the man I was speaking with. The staff of four at the front, erupted in near riot. One took the shopping bag from my hand and told me to get out as he moved to the door bag in hand. Another staffer restrained him and returned my bag still telling me to get out. At this point the owner appeared on his way out for the evening. I appealed to him and he nastily brushed me off to take it up with his staff. There were painting fixture bulbs i wished to buy but they refused to wait on me
At his point the female cashier got into the act also ordering me out. At the door I encountered yet another staffer and told him I was on the brink of calling the Pol;ice about the threatening behavior, but I needed the fixture bulbs. He was sympathetic asking me to calm down and explain my complaint.I asked him to clarify the invoice which he did by indicating I was given a store credit but the correct bulbs were more costly.
He offered to go to the front to a get me the fixture bulbs for which I gave him my credit card. When he returned with the items, the cashier arrived to lock the front door and screamed at me "are you still here" and proceed to lock the door. The sympathetic staffer explained to her the new situation and she unlocked it.I remarked that she didn't know how to treat a customer and walked out. She started screaming curses and followed me out to the street and continued until I quickly escaped a dozen yards away.
The staff in the store, with one exception, are a cabal of nasty, dangerous people apparently supported by the owner in their behavior....
Read moreCustomer service on the phone was at its all time low. The quality of service depends on the person answering the phone and I was unfortunate to have 2 out of 3 people that were not the best at quality customer care. To begin with I had to pick up the bulbs because their delivery service window does not work for private homes without full time help. I went to pick up at the new location on 58th st at rush hour, I called to see if there was anyway to get a delivery because traffic was outrageous and customer service replied its only 4:30 and I had 2-1/2 hours to arrive at the store! The least the store could do is send someone out with the box because there is no parking. I did not received the brand of bulbs that I ordered, I received another company and was not informed, when I called to discuss and the customer service person was combative and could not even start the conversation with I am sorry for the inconvience. It has now been a week and the box of bulbs have not been picked up. Very sad situation since I have been buying bulbs from this store for 10 years. Unfortunately it may be time to find another company who will be happy for my business when I call. With the state of Brick and Mortar stores and small business owners, my suggestion would be to give more training and care to your customer service people as they are...
Read moreWow, what a poor experience with Just Bulbs. I paid for my lamp to get fixed, and they returned it dusty, with a scratch, and still broken.
When I asked them to please pick up the lamp and re-do the job so that the lamp works correctly, they were going to charge me for pickup. When I asked for the delivery charge to reconsidered (since they didn't fix the lamp the first time), the manager/electrician gave me a healthy dose of attitude, with an extra side of rude.
Hard pass on this business--they are certainly not the only lamp repair store in town.
(Addendum: After I wrote a review elsewhere, the owner David B. replied with false information about our interaction & repair -- He mentioned something about dimmers, which I don't even have, plus a timeline of repairs that was pure fiction.
It's sad when a business owner lies to justify their poor customer service. If a customer wants additional background about this business, simply scroll through other reviews for more information to see for yourself about how they operate. Unfortunately, it seems like I am not the only person who has been...
