I went to Dr. Quintana to treat hair loss and acne. During the appointment, she was very kind and understanding, which I appreciated. She recommended a few creams and acids, told me to come back in a month to treat the hair loss, and I spent about $200 on the skin products. When I asked if there was an alternative that my insurance would cover, I was told there wasn’t any. However, a week after purchasing the creams, my insurance reached out to inform me that there were actually similar alternatives that would have been covered.

Two days after starting the treatments, I developed an allergic reaction—my face became red, peeling, and extremely itchy. I reached out via their chat, sent pictures of my condition, and was told the doctor would send a new cream (which I was charged for). I was also advised to stop applying the original creams. Unfortunately, the new cream provided no relief and caused a breakout of pimples instead.

When I shared my concerns, I was told the problem was on me for applying too much of the creams. However, I had been very clear during the appointment that I had never used acids before, and I followed the exact guidelines she provided. I didn't appreciate the blaming.

What surprised me the most is that there was no follow-up to check on how I was doing. It’s been over a month, and I still can’t expose my face to the sun because it becomes extremely red and sensitive. I'm the type that will notice the slightest spot on my body and would think the worst case. So after having a rash for 2 weeks that wouldn't go away, I was getting very nervous it was something serious. I tried getting in with my Soho Derm but they snobbishly laughed, said they couldn't fit me in for an emergency, even though it was medical and not cosmetic. Desperately searching, I called Laser & Mohs Derm, as expected, they were full. From the very beginning, the reception had great customer service answering my questions; I spoke with the office manager, Amal and she was above and beyond amazing and sympathetic to my worries. She said she would fit me in, I just had to come in and see her - she even stayed past their 8pm closing time to talk about my issue and send me paperwork. Next day, I was able to see Dr. Boker in less than 5 mins. I usually prefer a woman dermatologist but he made me feel really comfortable. He was very knowledgeable and described my symptoms on the dot. Thankfully, I was diagnosed with just pityriasis rosea - sadly it could last up to 8 weeks. I’m at a loss for words! Dr. Andreas Boker is by FAR the BEST dermatologist ever. He is truly amazing. He changed my life!!! I did a lot of research before choosing a dermatologist because of bad experiences in the past and I knew the moment I met Dr. Boker I made the right choice. He has excellent bed side manners, very smart, sits down with you and talks to you and makes sure you are clear with treatment/asks you if you have any questions and makes you feel extremely comfortable. I used to deal with breakouts and he cleared my skin beautifully. He’s extremely smart and damn good at what he does. He knew exactly what treatment to put me on and for how long and it worked WONDERS. I highly, HIGHLY recommend you choose Dr. Boker as your new dermatologist. I have high standards when it comes to these things and I’m very cautious about choosing the right doctors. He exceeded my expectations and I’ve never been happier.
