Leopoldi Hardware — Local services in New York

The Zuzus have been SO over those huge chain hardware boxstores forever. Our dear neighbors at Leopoldi’s hardware are carrying on the tradition of a multi-generational family business and we are huge fans.This is a hardware store the way it was meant to be. They have EVERYTHING! And they know exactly where to find it! No need to wander lost amongst the screws and hasps and switches; someone in the family is always available to find what you need...even when you do not know what that is! Their prices are reasonable, their customer service is exemplary, if they do not have what you need, they will get it or send you somewhere you can....although, i do not recall ever leaving there empty handed.....if this crowded, overstocked,throwback shop is not for you, maybe you live in...

Walked in with a picture of what I wanted because someone sent me on an errand to buy something for a festival. The guys working this shop are so friendly, knowledgeable, and honest. If they don’t have something out in the open then they definitely have it in their storage room. What really made my experience top notch was that the guy helping me asked what I needed the item for, and upon hearing the reason actually recommended the cheaper-priced option because I “didn’t need the heavy duty version.” That’s really great service. Probably the best local, family-owned shop I’ve ever been to in NYC; I wasn’t expecting it to be a hardware shop...

Small hardware store with items from the floor to the ceiling so take your time when you walk in the store. Also check the items outside the store. Good prices for what I have seen.
