My general experiences with different Men’s Wearhouse chains have been bad, but nothing could have prepared me for the horrible and below any standards of service I received in the Atlantic Ave, Brooklyn branch.
The story started a few weeks before my wedding. To be honest, the only reason I got involved with this store in the first place is that I was given a Men’s Wearhouse gift card. First I went to the Rt. 17 NJ branch where after a long and frustrating process where I was given subpar service and it was very difficult to find things in my size (which isn’t extraordinary—I am a men’s small and 30 waist) using this gift card I bought a vest, suit, shirt, and tie. Measurements were taken and the pants and the suit were tailored to fit my size. When I returned to try on my clothes after tailoring, it turned out that the suit jacket was tailored too small and the shirt sleeves were puffed out and too long. When asked how this happened, their answer was “there is no standard” and “you get what you get, it’s fine” which was offensive and frustrating, as this was for my wedding.
Since I live in Brooklyn, it was hard for me to return to NJ, so I had my clothing sent over to the Brooklyn branch, where upon entering, the employees were in the middle of what looked like a dance party and it took several minutes for me to get their attention. They promised to make the corrections needed so that my suit would fit properly. As I was waiting, I also looked through shoes. I asked for help for finding my size and was given only one pair, and when I asked for more options, was ignored. I asked again for more options and his reply was, “What, that isn’t good enough for you?” and when I said no, he replied, “If those shoes are fine, then why do you need another pair?” After pushing further (which I shouldn’t have to do for good service) he begrudgingly gave me another pair.
In the meantime, I was called to check my shirt, which still wasn’t a correct size, so it was sent back for a third repair and by that point the shirt was so poorly tailored that so much fabric was cut from it that the shirt didn’t fit me anymore at all. It was the only shirt there in my size and they said there was nothing they could do. By this point, weeks had passed and this all happened a few days before my wedding. Not only would they not give me a discount or any form of compensation, I was completely ignored, never apologized to, and the ridiculous mistake they made was completely disregarded. I was very distraught and at this point close to panic and asked for the manager’s help. His reply was no better than his workers. He asked, “Why do you need that shirt, there are other shirts here” even though I insisted that this was the specific shirt that I had chosen for my wedding after careful scrutiny. After all, it wasn’t a shirt for any day, it was my wedding day. When pressed further, I was told there is one shirt of that kind in my size but in the Bronx and that I could “take a taxi (from Brooklyn all the way to the Bronx) to get it” and there was “nothing they can do” for me. After ruining my shirt not once but TWICE the least they could do was send a taxi themselves and when politely asked, they replied, “there is a limit of what we can do for our customers.” They also when push came to shove didn’t have another shirt in my size at all in the entire store. In the end I gave up and used an everyday shirt I have used many times, for my wedding.
The entire experience was beyond disrespectful, rude, and completely unacceptable. I will never buy at Men’s Wearhouse again, even if given another gift card. I suggest that no one else enters this despicable store either. There are far better, more cordial, and more reasonably priced places to shop than at this...
Read moreOn 5/23/23 I visited this store since it was close to my job looking to purchase a suit blazer, upon walking in there was absolutely no greeting even though there was a young lady at the register. And also a young male in the custom section. So I walked to the back area and seen a tall middle eastern man on a phone so I started browsing after he finished his call still no greeting or can I help you with anything. I approached him and had to ask for service. I explained to him that I needed a suit blazer to go with pants I already have he asks are those the pants you’re wearing now? I said no but they are similar just different color so he asked what color are you looking for and I pointed to a kinda royal blue pants on a table and I also said to him I need a 50r or 52r so he walks off and comes back with a plaid brown 2-tone color blazer. So I reminded him that I needed blue he seemed annoyed after that and just pointed towards a wall and says very aggressively go look on that wall we have blue over there, VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!! Then another gentle man came in looking for service as well and stopped the same person that was rude to me and asked about a suit vest the sales associate seemed angry with the man for asking about the vests then starts yelling “the price is $85” the man says ok and he says it again “they cost $85 just to let you know” and again the customer said that’s fine. But then something caught my attention there these 2 Caucasian men that were in the store and the same middle eastern sales person devoted his undivided attention to them he was very patient with them he went above and beyond ensuring they were serviced mean while I had to look for everything myself with no assistance. I even asked him if he had bigger sizes in a pants that I saw and was interested in I was brushed off by saying no whatever is on the racks that’s all I have and walked away! I hate to say this but I strongly believe race played a part in my experience at this location yesterday. I will never visit this store ever again and this company needs to look into this with...
Read moreI have bought numerous suits there in the past and is a current Perfect Fit member. I went to get a suit and literally had the worst experience. I was not ready for because like I said previously, I have bought many suits there in the past.
I picked out a suit and the jacket fit perfectly but the pants were too small. The sales person initially tried to stuff another suit down my throat which I didn't like. It was nice but I liked the suit I picked. He also lied and said it was on sale for one day only, which I knew wasn't true. Anyway after refusing to buy the 2nd suit and him sucking his teeth at me, we talked about getting the pants for the suit I liked. He told me he would have to order a suit for the bigger size and then they will tailor it for me for $12. Sounded too good to be true but he said it and I said "cool," and bought the suit.
When it arrived, I went to try on the suit and then after seeing the tailor, I went to the front and he told me it was $107!! I said to the sales person, "how is it $107 when you for me the other day it was $12? He told me that he only said the pants was $12 but the alterations to the jacket brought up the price. The jacket for the suit he ordered was now too big and he could not mix and match with the smaller sized jacket with the bigger pants.
I figured I had to be fine with that and said that if I cannot have the smaller jacket, then I need my $$ back because I am not paying for alterations for a jacket when I know you have one in the store that fits perfect. He then raised his hand and got his manager to give me my refund and it was the most blatant disdain I have ever seen for customer service. They immediately got short with me, didn't offer me any other options and did not look me on the eye, even though they can see I have spent thousands there previously for suits.
It sucks that it's in a really convenient location but I'm...
