Mutiny — Local services in New York

I love this spot! When I lived in Carroll Gardens I came here a lot since I loved the cuts, the vibes, and the ethical deals (not that higher prices are unethical but its nice to have a business that has a model that truly cares about having affordable options). I think I had 3 different barber style cuts and loved each one. I was recommended them with financially in a bind by Fiona Hair NYC who also does incredible barber style and any style cuts and coloring and highly recommend her as well! Oh yes, and when you book online with mutiny.gay you have the option to select a "quiet cut", I never selected it so I can't attest to the experience, but love this option as an introvert that can truly get exhausted with social situations admits the busy over-stimulating NYC life. I would still make the long trek...

I just went to mutiny, (First things first, the haircut is fantastic!) I'd heard such great things from a number of people so I decided to get my first haircut in 8 years here. I have very long curly hair and told Lex how nervous I was l, and Lex immediately explained their plan and made sure every little change was okay with me. Lex went out of their way to educate me and teach me all about my hair (something they had clearly studied extensively) and was welcoming, Kind, and rocked every part of this process. I'm so happy about my hair, and am so amazed to see a salon collective doing so well. I don't get haircuts often but am going to recommend this place...

After a string of bad haircuts, I avoided stylists and barbers for many years, but I'm so glad I decided to give Mutiny a shot. For a long time I didn't know what to do with my hair and ended up growing it out, feeling unhappy with how I looked, and Ren gave me a cut that made me feel more confident in my own skin.

I'd recommend Mutiny to anyone, queer or not, as I see their clients ranging from more traditional cuts to edgier, alternative styles. For what it's worth, I have Asian hair (straight, thin, limp), and some non-Asian hairstylists I've worked with in the past didn't seem to "understand" Asian hair, but...
