UPDATE: My awesome UPS guy, who helped intercept and return the packages, informed me that each box was a twin size frame. I did NOT order bunk beds! I just KNEW they were going to try to pull a vindictive stunt!! Good thing I got sharp instincts.đ
I paid for my King size loft bed frame, a bunkie board, and two different mattress protectors on the 2nd of April. I was initially told that I would receive it in six weeks, around the second week of May. When that didn't happen, I contacted them, and they said it would be shipped on May 28th. That never happened.đ
Well over two months later, my patience and trust fully eroded, I contact the company, and between Eric and Jonah, I got nothing but gaslighting and runaround. Eric tells me that the BED is being processed for shipment and at first gives me one UPS tracking number. He also told me that the bunkie board would be shipped out on the 28th, which I made clear was unacceptable, and promptly requested a refund for the bunkie board. Eric told me to email customer service to arrange for that. I did, and received an email response from Jonah, who is VERY RUDE, and HE tells me that the BOARD has been shipped, and that the bed was not available until the 28th. In addition, this nasty, abusive person LIED TO ME about having sent a tracking number for the bunkie board, which was NOT the case, LITERALLY told me that I was confused(!!!), and kept talking over me to shut me down before hanging up with me telling me to complain in an email! HOW DARE HE?!?!đ¤đ¤đ¤
I have a file of every email exchange with them, in addition to a file of all of our recorded conversations. I spent nearly 2,000 of my stimulus money, which is a significant amount of money that I don't always have as a single mother, and was happy to finally be getting a new bed for myself, something that is many, many years overdue. National Home Store has made what should have been a joyful experience into an absolute NIGHTMARE - especially considered that it's not every day that I can afford a new bed. Meanwhile I have many boxes of a brand new mattress and bedding taking up valuable real estate in my living room, and insult to injury I AM STILL FORCED TO SLEEP ON MY OLD AWFUL BED!!!đĄ
Pardon the pun, but I was NOT going to take this lying down, so I immediately filed a dispute with PayPal (I am SO GRATEFUL to have been able to use them for this hellish transaction!!!) And here is the sketchiest part of this entire debacle: National Home Store IMMEDIATELY shipped out all 250lbs of my order divided into two tracking numbers for 125lb each. The same order that has been stalled in shipment and alluded to being unfinished. Yeah. Sounds like a hasty, potentially punitive move coming from dishonest, arrogant, shady men who don't like their authority questioned by a woman especially - trust me, I know that type of man way more than I'd like to admit. So rather than have a nightmare of dealing with heavy lumber that is likely unfinished and therefore unsafe (which has apparently happened to other customers as depicted in some of these reviews), I contacted UPS and had my delivery refused in advance - this should beat NHS at their own game! I am one old school Native New Yorker who is NOT to be messed with, I am indeed nobody's fool!! We Native New Yorkers may be a**holes, arguably, but we are NOT (all) crooks and scumbags!!!đ
I've dealt with my fair share of sketchy companies and shady dealings in 41 years of my life, but never have encountered anything as pathological and sadistic in business before choosing National Home Store. These wiseguys don't even deserve the single star I was forced to put just to post this review. If you value your money, your time, your energy, peace of mind and dignity, then please for the love of everything decent and worthy RUN AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AS FAST AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE. SHAME ON YOU NATIONAL...
Read moreBUYER BEWARE! All I can say is I wish I would have read the reviews prior to purchasing from this company. We ordered two queen over queen bunk bed sets in early June and paid for multiple upgrades such as added weight limit, paint, side ladders, and expedited shipping. In mid June a shipment was made though UPS rejected half of the order because of the condition of the shipping boxes. We received the two boxes and (unfortunately) waited to open them as we were awaiting the rest of the shipment. By mid July when we didn't receive the rest of the order, I contacted Jonah to inquire about the order. He assured me that the rest would be sent shortly. A week later, I received a generic email request to submit a review since my order had been completed. However, my order was not complete so I again reached out. This contact resulted in a shipment being made through UPS.
Now the fun begins. We received the order and upon opening the box noticed that the product was a collection of 2 x 4's that were painted (as requested and paid for), though the wood had not been sanded prior to applying paint. One would presume that the finish work of sanding would have been included since we paid for that upgrade. According to Jonah, this is a DIY project. I guess we were expected to sand it ourselves AFTER the paint job? (Insert face palm.) Additionally, the paint was uneven and there were spots that had not been covered. There was massive damage to the wood, namely dents and many splintered areas. No instructions or materials list, specific to the product ordered, were included. What was included was a generic paragraph with no pictures. Additionally, they sent only one queen over queen bunk. The other item looked to be a twin loft. We based this off of measurements since no paperwork specific to the items we ordered was included.
We gave it our best effort to make a guess at what went where and did attempt to put it together, despite the damage. After realizing that key pieces were missing for the one queen over queen bunk set that was sent, I had enough. Knowing that this company was already challenging to deal with I just went directly through PayPal to initiate a refund. Jonah emailed me to tell me that I would need to pay to send the materials back before he would authorize the full refund. After hemming and hawing about the cost of the boxes it would take me to send this back, I told him to send a prepaid shipping label and I would do so. He responded, and I quote "Since you filed a dispute with PayPal you will need to return it at your cost." Never mind the fact that they sent a damaged product or that half of it was the completely wrong product. Zero accountability!
I'm sure I will receive a response about how sorry they are about my displeasure but their product is superior and they did everything to try and rectify the situation. Do not believe a word of that nonsense. It is a completely skewed version of the truth where the company's accountability is oddly absent. Save yourselves the trouble of dealing with this nonsense and shop elsewhere.
Addendum: Having this matter resolved to our "liking" was the result of us disputing the transaction with our credit card company and receiving a refund, which Jonah did not like. He threatened us with collections if we did not send the bed back. After he FINALLY agreed to pay for shipping, we sent it back. No easy feat when dealing with 400 pounds of wood. I sincerely apologize to the next person who he...
Read moreWhen I originally placed the order for my Custom Adult Loft Bed in early July, I thought I was taking advantage of a good deal to replace my old bunk bed with a few bells and whistles thrown in. Now I wish that I had gone through with the refund when I believed the loft bed wasn't going to be delivered.
The receipt email informed me that I would receive emails updating me on my order. I didn't. After waiting half a month I began to worry from the lack of news and called Customer Services. The initial receipt email encouraged me to contact them to get an exact time frame for the bed being made and presumably, it's shipping date.
I was greeted by a cranky worker who bluntly informed me that the bed was being made and that it would be shipped in August. I was told to wait for an email that would supply the tracking number. Originally, I brushed his attitude aside-- believing that he had to deal with irate customers who weren't accepting the material shortages as a legit issue stores were facing.
Now, I'm reconsidering that after having to actively reach out in order to try and get the tracking number and receiving emails one would expect from a child still learning the importance of capitalization, spelling and written formalities.
At the end of September I sent an email telling this company that if I didn't receive my bed I was going to get a refund. I didn't hear from anyone so I called my credit card company and told them about the problem. After discussing it with the bank I decided to do a chargeback.
Once I took this step, the bed was magically completed and shipped with tracking numbers from FedEx.
So, all well's that ends well, right? Wrong. The instructions for putting up the bed my family and I received was a single paragraph that failed to properly identify the wooden pieces and excluded any mention of the additional bookcase add-on and corner supports, leaving us with nine extra pieces (Two of which went completely unused after putting the bed up.) to figure out their purpose. We were forced us to print up a more detailed set of instructions, which features pictures of a few different bed models. Making it hard to gauge how much we were getting right just to set the main frame up.
The bookcase was only put together after meditating on what went where and how, while dealing with screws that left almost an inch of metal sticking out of the shelf supports.
After getting everything set up and putting a third party mattress into the bed frame I quickly discovered that while spacious and nice to look at, It didn't feel and look safe.
The bed frame will lean inwards if you push against it, the protective railings are a joke if you have a regular mattress. (To be fair, the site does have a lot of links to mattresses, but having had a loft bed before I didn't think it would be a problem - wrong!) This doesn't excuse the constant squeaking and slight movement if you climb up and lie down, nor does it excuse the rough wood. A big no-no since rough wood can lead to splinters and damaged wood later down the road.
All in all I wish I went through with the refund instead of buying this accursed bed AND a full sized mattress while having to deal with horrible...
