Today will be my last day going there. I've had 2 good experiences here, both were by barbers that are no longer there, which is why I'm giving it 2 stars. Today I called to schedule an appointment and told them I had a below par experience before and requested that I be out with someone who was good. Obviously they believe all their barbers are good and say that's it all about communication so they sit me down with someone named Jasmin. Fine - I was very clear when I told her the hair cut I wanted, she said okay and proceeded to give me the opposite of what I asked for. At the end when she was showing me the cut in the mirror I told that I didn't like it and it was what I asked for. I specifically asked for a taper with a little off the top and she gave me a mid fade. It was way shorter than what I wanted. The next thing that was wrong was that it wasn't even blended in thoroughly and it's not symmetrical. Apparently it's not about communication it's about whatever the barber wants to do to get you in and out. This is a $40 haircut I expect more. I will say that they only charged me $25 but even then that was still too much for the experience I had. She said that she has many years of experience and that it was a good cut and she even said It's too late to go back. Obviously! If she had many years of experience she should know that you start high, ask is this okay?, and then you go lower if it isn't. You don't start with a lower guard and hope you were right.
Lastly I told the front desk person, who I spoke to over the phone, that this was exactly what I was afraid of and that it wasn't what I asked for. He said that's $25 gave me my change and proceeded to speak with someone else that was there. I'm sure people have good experiences here but when you charged $40 I expect a level of professionalism. Again I won't be...
Read moreMy son’s haircut turned out well, but I was twice misled about the price and that is the reason for my 2-star review. I emailed and messengered the shop to see if they would remedy the situation, but no response after 6 days. When I booked the appointment online it said $30 for the haircut - I purposely selected a Junior Stylist for the Kid Cut at $30, my son is 10yrs old (Senior stylists were listed at $40).
At the time of payment, I asked the person checking me out to confirm that it was $30 and he said “oh we had to raise our prices so it’s now $35”. I agreed to the $35 charge (and gave a separate Venmo tip based on that amount), but I didn’t see any receipt before leaving because it was charged to my credit card on file and the receipt is automatically sent by email (yes my son is a repeat customer). When I got home I saw that I was charged $40 on the e-receipt. I was expecting $30, verbally told $35 at the time of payment, but then see $40 charged to my credit card. I want to support this business but I feel I was taken advantage of, so buyer beware if you choose...
Read moreMy favorite barber shop in the city. I've been to many, but now only come here (even though I've since moved to Brooklyn). They'll offer you a shot of Old Overholt Whiskey when you sit down, which is the best way to start anything, right?
The staff is extremely knowledgeable and pleasant. I've had many great cuts from Andrew and Khalid, two of the favorites, but my favorite has to be Jasmine, the only girl in the whole joint. She's really soft-spoken, but when I told her what I was looking for, she told me straight up why certain things probably wouldn't look so good on my specific head (and she was 100% correct), and then she offered better remedies.
Anyways, she has cut my hair twice, and they've been my favorite cuts to date! Check this place out-- you'll never be...
