My experience with NYC Photo Safari was incredible! Zim was my teacher for the Central Park class- We started the safari by discussing my expectations and my skill level as a photographer- then we were off to start snapping! The safari began at Bethesda Fountain, and over the 2 hours we covered a large circle around the area. As a beginner, I was hoping for a hands-on, engaging experience; this is exactly what Zim provided. We discussed not only the importance of what you photograph, but why. We found ourselves in (intentionally) tough lighting situations where we had to prioritize one subject over another. We captured details of grand ceilings, massiveness of trees, and movement in the elaborate design of Central Park.
I would recommend this course to all photographers who are looking to expand their knowledge, challenge themselves, and want an unforgettable experience. Zim was kind, patient, hilarious, and made an excellent 'best friend' for my photos. Thank you Zim, and the team at NYC...
Read moreI took five different photo safaris on this trip - 4 were with Zim (WTC, Central Park, Iconic NY 1, Iconic NY 2) and one was with David (Brooklyn Bridge). I enjoyed working with both of them - David was easy to talk with and gave me a lot of insight into living in NYC. He also has a good eye for noting interesting light. Zim excels at explaining photo concepts at the level of the photographer - one person there was an absolute beginner, while I'm more advanced. She did a great job differentiating the instruction so both of us were challenged and learned. She is also very picky and "compassionately direct" in her critiques of photos. I never felt like I had done something wrong; instead, I thought I could learn to critically look...
Read moreThe workshop I went on with this group was very helpful and has really improved my photography skills. They work with any digital camera and really teach you what you want to learn about. The one downside is that they can't really teach you with cameras that use film due to the time it takes for those photos to be developed (as opposed to fractions of a second with a digital camera). They took the group I was with all over Central Park giving us many beautiful angles to shoot. We also got a whole bunch of useful freebies along the way! The guides were very professional and had a ton of experience and knowledge about the art of photography. I would definitely...
