I have never reviewed anything in my life, reported any company or even felt the need to publicize any of my interactions with any business ever—but the unprofessionalism of this group, agents and brokers, needs to be made public knowledge so no one else is abused. I am emotionally and physically drained. I was strong-armed, mislead, name-called and shamed for not being able to “afford” the apartments they intentionally misrepresented online. I inquired on an apartment listed as “no fee” and “one month free” at $2295, and was finding myself with paperwork stating the rent was $2450 and I had to pay a one month broker fee. All this is fine but it wasn’t what I had agreed to. I kept being told “we will make it work” and not ever given a direct answer. When I pick up the phone to discuss my confusion, I was told to take my money and walk away, a “bottom feeder” and actually yelled at by not one, but two of the people at this company. An agent and the owner. I put down a $500 dollar good faith deposit and as soon as they received it, they put the apartment back on the market (mind you they wanted me to Venmo it to them). Despite written acknowledgment that the agent actually told me to “leave her alone” (I was speaking with her for a total of 6 days about this apartment I was fully intending on renting) - the owner of Urban Real Estate Property Group taunted me on the phone, asking me to take him to court because I was never going to see that $500 dollars again. I have never been spoken to by strangers the way they spoke to me in my life, and I have never in my 15 years living in New York ever been put through the nightmare this company put me through. Please, please, if you see their name associated with anything you are looking at, RUN. Ps, I very easily and happily rented an apartment the next day with the sweetest woman at Triplemint for $2200. Listing was exactly...
Read moreIf I could give Urban Real Estate no stars I would. They leased an apt. to my daughter. Building had a catastrophic natural gas failure before she moved in. Urban agent assured all would be fixed in a couple of days--no heat since March, no oven/stove to date, over 2 months without hot water. Frequently no light in halls, no buzzer system, common areas are filthy, over 130 open violations with the City of NY. No smoke or CO2 detector. Building stinks of fish. They should advertise--you can pay top prices for disgusting studios, and Urban has no problem collecting a leasing fee for this privilege. An ethical company would have been honest and professional with my daughter--but then again that is not Urban's way. To be honest I know nothing about the other buildings that Urban has an exclusive with but everybody at 174 Hester street is in the same boat as my daughter, so my feeling is stay away from Urban...
