Newtown HQ — Local services in New York

With the holidays coming up, I’ve now started to earnestly look for gift ideas. And as much as I love the convenience of Amazon, I’ve decided to try to shop local as much as possible this year. Luckily, there are several great stores in Astoria that fits this bill. Newtown HQ has been opened for almost two years (?) but this is the first time I’ve been inside.

There are so many fun and interesting items here! The boutique itself is tiny but they really jam pack it with a variety of things. Expect to spend a bit of time looking around. I found Tokidoki bags, plushies, toys, collectibles, stationery, anime merchandise and clothing.

The items here are definitely geared toward a younger (than me) and hipper demographic. Still I had a blast checking out the store. I chuckled at the cat lovers section and the various hats they had for cats. And I was tempted to buy the socks with Bob Ross’ face on it. So funny and cute. In the end, I got a extra large mug shaped liked a bear.

Newtown HQ is a woman owned small boutique. Let’s all support stores like these...

I love going to Newtown HQ. Everytime I am like i need a cute present and i don't know what to get, I come to this store and end up finding birthday gifts, and gifts from me to me. This store also has pretty fair pricing especially with how one of a kind many of these items are. Also great customer service, especially when asking about their upcoming collectibles or if you need help on what to buy there is always a friendly welcoming employee open to answering all your questions. I would definitely recommend this store to all my friends. I enjoy every moment im just browsing through the cute tote bags, the unique mugs, the hilarious greeting cards, the colorful stationary, and of course the cutest sonny angel collectibles. The best part of this store is the welcoming aura as soon as you walk in the shop, and then when browsing through everything and wanting to buy all the items in the store. Don’t even get me started on their sticker collection. They have the best sticker collection that I have ever seen! It is always a good time when...

Picture this: me, lugging my suitcases into this quaint Latina-owned boutique, expecting raised eyebrows and limited space. But boy, was I in for a treat! The staff welcomed me like a returning traveler, suitcases and all, turning a potentially awkward moment into a cozy memory.

Inside, the shop was a treasure trove of delights, each corner boasting its own brand of charm. From colorful textiles to intricate ceramics, it was a feast for the senses!

Despite not meeting the owner, the warmth and hospitality radiating from her team spoke volumes.

Leaving with my bags a little heavier and my heart a little fuller, I knew I'd stumbled upon something special. Count me in for a return visit when I'm back in town! This shop has woven its charm into my travel plans, and I can't wait to wander its aisles again. Until next...
