The supermarkets in astoria are truly an abomination. You see so many awful things. Expired food. Rotted meat. People grabbing rolls from the bread section with bare hands , squeezing the rolls and putting it back for another. The store supplies a set of songs. But astoria is full of entitled clowns so they just grab with their dirty hands. Dogs in store ... Wrong prices that are always 100% the wrong price with an increase. Never once was the difference in price a decrease. Rude cashiers that ignore you when you greet them .. But the final straw for me is the thievery and dishonesty and outright scam they are pulling. See , I noticed that both this supermarket and the one on 30th Ave and 38st fraudulently package their chicken as PURDUE Chicken. THEY PUT A SMALL PURDUE SIGN UNDER THE PLASTIC. AND WRAP IT IN YELLOW STYROFOAM. PURDUE HAS A VERY DISTINCT PACKAGING. Im reporting both of them to the proper authorities. THE FACT THAT THEY THINK ITS OK TO SELL YOU FAKE PURDUE UNKOWN SOURCED CHICKEN IS INSANE AND PROVES THEY DONT CARE ABOUT YOU OR YOUR FAMILY AT ALL. IVE INCLUDED PHOTOS OF PURDUES PACKAGING. YOU BE THE JUDGE.

They constantly sell expired food and do not remove them from shelves. Not even when I've personally brought it to the manager's attention and walked them to the product in the aisle. He apologizes and pretends to take inventory of the items, but they are still there during my next visit (a few days later). I visit frequently for last-minute needs, but have to check the dates on everything *AND* inspect them for traces of discoloration, mold, etc despite dates. It's disappointing but sadly, the only supermarket in the immediate vicinity. Someone should report them to the Dept. Of Health. Prices are also higher than most stores in Astoria, except for products whose prices are fixed by the brand (ie: this cheese costs the same everywhere and comes with the sticker from the manufacturer).

11/15 update. Sorry isnt good enough. Keeping this one short because I am not in it for fame, but in it for justice. The pomegranites bae got were tasting funny. Very sour. We continued to eat because we couldnt really put our finger on what was wrong. I havent had a pomegranite in many years. The taste was too funky so we said, leta check the date. 3 days expired. Brought it back, was told sorry and to check for a unexpired one. Well, they all were expired. I really dont think they cared. We got our money back. 5 bucks and train. I am lowering my rating from 4 stars to 2. Excellent example of the abundance of vegetables and fruit available in Astoria. Truly blessed to have the access to all this healthy food. I think C-Town stands for Chevre Town. :)

This particular CTown usually has many items that are expiring or near-expiring. Most recently, I was going to buy a balsamic vinaigrette in the refrigerated organic vegetable section when you first walk in on the left, and the first one I picked up was expired for quite some time. However my biggest gripe with this CTown is that many items are mislabeled on the shelf or have no price tag at all. So, when you go to checkout you get surprised with a different price than you thought, and you guessed it, the rung-up price is always more than the label at the item’s shelf displays. Every time I have disputed the price of an item, which is not often because I used to be a cashier at a wholesale club, an employee or the manager goes to check the price on the shelf and comes back to inform me that the product had no label or the label I was looking at was for something else (so why is the label at the wrong product??). This is incredibly frustrating because in my many years as a cashier, my bosses have always made me override the price that was rung up to the price the customer said the item was because “the customer is always right” (a saying I can’t disagree with more, but that’s besides the point). Today, I bought one thing of orange juice, and I checked the price tag in front of it multiple times because I knew I was going to have an issue at the checkout counter since there are so many brands/types of orange juice in that section. There were two OJ’s for $4.49, so I gambled and picked the one I thought the price tag would be correct for, and of course when the store manager went to check the price he came back and said the one I grabbed didn’t have a tag (meanwhile there was definitely a price tag right below the juice displaying $4.49), and he’d make sure to add a tag to the shelf for it. However, he didn’t offer to refund me the dollar and instead asked if I wanted to return the...
