Beware of Deceptive “Membership” Practices – A Very Disappointing Experience I recently visited Next Level Aesthetics after seeing a promotional facial advertised on Facebook. Since it was a new place, I thought it would be a great opportunity to try their services. To be fair, the facial itself was fantastic—Ms. Kayla was professional, and my skin felt amazing afterward. The office was stylish, clean, and well-maintained. Unfortunately, that’s where the positive aspects of my experience ended. After my mother and I completed our facials, a staff member called her into an office. When I inquired about this, the front desk told me it was simply to explain the treatment and discuss next steps for skincare. A few minutes later, I was also called in—only to realize that the conversation wasn’t just about skincare; it was about signing up for a so-called membership. The staff member informed me that my mother had agreed to a membership plan for $189 per month, which included facials, skincare products, and a red-light therapy wand. Intrigued, I decided to opt for the $249/month plan, which also included microdermabrasion and chemical peels. At this point, I was under the impression that this was a true membership—meaning they would simply charge my card monthly for services. However, things took a disturbing turn. The staff member asked for a card number, which we provided. She then spent time on her phone and requested a code sent to my phone. That’s when I started asking: Is this a membership charge, or are you running a credit check? She insisted it was just a “soft pull” that wouldn’t affect my credit. But soon after, I received a link prompting me to enter my Social Security number—clearly indicating that this was a loan application through Affirm, Shop Pay, or another financing service. At no point were we informed that we were being signed up for a credit-based payment plan instead of a standard monthly membership. Instead of a simple $249/month charge, they were attempting to secure a $5,000 credit approval in our names. That’s not a membership—that’s a loan. And unlike a typical membership that you can cancel anytime, a loan is a financial commitment that doesn’t just go away. If I had been informed upfront that their so-called membership was actually financing a lump sum in advance, I could have made an informed decision. Instead, they attempted to sneak in a credit application under the guise of a membership plan, which I find incredibly misleading and unethical. While I understand that the employee was likely just following company protocol, the way this was handled left a very bad taste in my mouth. For a business that advertises “No Hidden Fees, No Surprises”—this was the biggest surprise of all. Final Thoughts: ✅ The facial itself was great. Ms. Kayla and my mother’s esthetician were both excellent. ❌ The misleading sales tactics and hidden financing scheme completely ruined the experience. Because of this deception, I will never be returning, and I strongly urge anyone considering this place to ask plenty of questions before agreeing to anything. What should have been a relaxing skincare experience turned into a stressful ordeal, and I wouldn’t want anyone else to go through...
