This early morning June 27, 2023 I came to Portokali Market. Since no employee was available at a coffee area to help me to grind coffee beans, I proceeded to the cashiers’ area for help. There were three cashiers behind the counter, two of them were busy with the customers and no one was in a waiting line. I approached to the third cashier and ask him for help. I walked through the store looking for someone who can help me and did not find one. I came back to the cashiers’ area and again he was available but did not want to do that. The female cashier kindly helped me to grind coffee. I proceeded to pay for my purchases. My total was $15.57 and gave a bill for $20 and 57 cents to the cashier. In return he handed me a sales receipt only. I inquired about $5 bill back to me, but the cashier was argumentative at first, then, look at a cash register and ruthlessly handed to me $5 bill and said “go”. What is the morning at the Portokali!!! Female discrimination? Poor customer service? Male superiority? Are we in the United States of America??? Fellow Female Customers! please stay away from the male cashiers at the Portokali – THEY...

Updated 08/09/23 Sadly, dairy-free alternatives at the coffee station are still mostly absent, which is honestly very sad. Such a great store, and they literally choose to take a stand on such a small, but important detail. Lactose intolerance is an actual health problem, which causes sometimes very severe symptoms.

Updated 06/08/23 There has been no dairy alternative at the coffee station for over a week now, slighting Portokali’s lactose-intolerant customers once again.

Updated 05/26/23 The store started placing a container of some type of dairy alternative, but not consistently, at least not yet.

Everything is great, shop there daily…. Why three stars? Discrimination against people who cannot digest lactose… they consistently refuse to offer lactose-free milk as an alternative to regular milk when buying coffee. Every place offers lactose-free alternative as a part of good customer service… I guess management does not really care about retaining their loyal customer base. It is such a small thing, not a big deal… but the lack of care and consideration towards customers behind it...
