Non toxic in nearly every way. This very natural hotel setting which is clean and comfortable. The staff is easy going, kind, and helpful. ||The environment is restful with a biophillic approach. Hardwood used on doors and drawers with a linseed type finish. Wool is used for the carpets and the beds have dust mite zipped covers on the mattress. There are no strong chemical odors of any kind. The doors are heavy and alleviated hallway noise. The housekeeping was excellent and turn down service thoughtful with children’s slippers and macaroons complimentary every night. ||The only thing I would say is the lotion and soaps are heavy with perfume so bring your own if sensitive. The bar soap was the only product we used. The lobby is a little cold in winter but on 4th floor you have comfortable cozy restaurant. They could fix this possibly this with entry heaters or supplemental in their garden lounge. The shared public restrooms are all male/female which left a lot of pee on the seats. I think better attention could be spent in this area or designation for sexes would be helpful or plan on using your room if you have small children as I do. ||The food is excellent farm to table options without organic listed. The restaurant staff including wait staff are very welcoming and polite. Reservations required for main dining Zou Zou. It’s excellent! My only complaint here was watching the expediter touch things like a marker and items handed to her by staff then place her bare hands into the herbs and food bowls. I know I’m a germ a phobe by many standards but this is how people get sick. ||Location is near Hudson Yard with an emphasis on sustainability. The Edge is one of NYC’s latest attractions which was worth the ticket price is not too crowed as when we visited the lines were not long. There is a Whole Foods with in steps of the hotel which was great for glass bottled water and necessary items. The Pendry uses plastic bottled water but provides plenty in the rooms. ||The nearby shopping is all the usual big chain suspects with high end luxury on 1st floor. Our favorite store is Falconeri cashmere on the 2nd level which had great clearance sale for winter goods at the time of our visit 1st week in January. ||Approx 20 minute ride to the West Village and Central Park but near the High Line. City Bikes offered right out the door. It’s very easy to get a cab at the Hudson Yard Shopping district and of course easy to get an Uber from this location late night. ||We will definitely stay here again. We loved this hotel and understand a chain is coming to Tampa where we live...
Read moreWe stayed at the Pendry Manhattan West for one night (booked through American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts) with our 19-month-old daughter. As frequent travelers who often stay in Hudson Yards, we were excited to try the Pendry instead of our usual Equinox Hotel.||The good: the hotel itself is stunning. Warm wood tones, excellent lighting design, and a modern yet inviting aesthetic make the space feel unique and luxurious. Our room was comfortable and well laid out, with a lovely view over the Manhattan West Plaza. Breakfast on the fourth floor was excellent—the hostess and wait staff were gracious, attentive, and even took the time to engage with our daughter. A special mention goes to the bellman who welcomed us; he was warm, attentive, and even surprised our daughter with a small gift, which set an excellent tone.||The not-so-good: unfortunately, our check-in experience at reception was the weakest we've had at any luxury property. The associate assisting us was curt and dismissive, repeatedly pointing out that we had booked" late in the day” in a way that felt unnecessary. When we asked about upgrades (complimentary or paid), he insisted none were available, though rooms continued to appear online. He also attempted to explain that walkable restaurants were" closed ahead of Labor Day" on a Friday in Manhattan; we dismissed his advice immediately as it was blatantly untrue. Most disappointing was that he showed no warmth toward our daughter—something we noticed all the more because every other staff member went out of their way to welcome her.||Overall, the Pendry Manhattan West is a beautiful hotel with tremendous potential. Many of the staff deliver on the promise of luxury hospitality. Still, the inconsistency at the front desk made us question our decision to try something new instead of returning to the Equinox Hotel, where we've always felt welcomed. With refinement at the reception level, the Pendry could truly shine.||---||UPDATE: After the hotel requested my review be posted to TripAdvisor, I was contacted by the property manager. He was extremely considerate and anxious to resolve the issues. His customer service was phenomenal. While there were still some slight issues at the start that need to be considered, I am modifying my review given the property's desire to...
Read moreI recently stayed at the Pendry in New York while celebrating my engagement last weekend. Overall, the hotel was nice and well-situated in Hudson Yards – a central location with easy access to landmarks like the Empire State Building, Times Square, and Madison Square Garden. The staff was generally friendly, and I appreciated being upgraded to a room on the 19th floor as part of Amex’s Fine Hotel and Resorts. But for a hotel that’s marketed as a 5-star experience, a few issues stood out that really detracted from the overall experience. The biggest red flag came on the first night: when I pulled back the sheets to get into bed, I found several hairs that clearly weren’t mine, along with what looked like crumbs. Not exactly what you’d expect after check-in at a luxury hotel. To the hotel’s credit, they offered to either move me to a different room or do a deep clean, and I opted for the latter – which they promptly arranged. Another letdown was during what was supposed to be a celebratory moment. After mentioning that I was celebrating an engagement, a manager offered to send a bottle of wine up to the room and asked what I’d like – a kind gesture that never materialized. It’s a small detail, but one that felt emblematic of the overall service: well-intentioned but lacking follow-through. Breakfast also missed the mark. Each morning, I was offered seating at a table where either the floor or the area under the table still had food or utensils. It happened 2 of the 3 mornings. Finally, at checkout, the front desk made a point of “comping” my remaining balance, which sounded generous until I realized that my booking through American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts likely would have covered that amount anyway. If it wasn’t covered, the explanation for the gesture wasn’t clear. I keep asking to see the charges because if Amex benefit was used, I wanted to leverage it All in all, it was a good not great experience. However, at a certain a price point, I...
