No.6 — Local services in New York

Wow. I am so grateful and excited to share my review. I will start off my saying that many years ago, a friend of mine in acting school told me about No 6 clogs. She had a pair, and I was obsessed, and she told me her No 6 clogs were literally the most comfortable thing ever and so I knew I wanted to try to grab a pair but unfortunately, the boots were a bit too narrow for my left foot, because I had broken my foot in the past and it never healed back to normal. As you can imagine, I was really sad. So for a while, I just figured I would never wear their shoes. I kept seeing them and wanted them, so I eventually ordered a pair from Farfetch, but alas, I had to return them because once again they were too narrow. I went to the sample sale this summer, ok I am realizing this is literally turning into my life story but I also want to share everything I can so I'm just gonna keep going, anyway, I went to the sample sale this summer, tried on boots, and they were too tight on my left foot. I was so sad. I am such a picky person and when I like something, I love it. Then this winter, they were having a sale, and so I for some reason reached out on instagram and asked if they had this one pair of mule platforms (open toes) that I had literally been eyeing for like 2 years. Maybe 3. Bianca sent them to the store for me. I got in to the store a month and a half later, and they were still there for me!!!! I tried them on, and I kid you not, they were the most comfortable thing ever, felt like I was walking on air. I bought them on the spot, and I just reached out to Bianca to send another pair of a different shoe to the store, and will be going in to the store tomorrow to try them on. I am so impressed with Bianca, how kind and helpful she has been for me! She has made me feel like a cared for customer, and I appreciate that she has gone above and beyond to try and help me with literally all my questions, and sending the shoes to the store on my behalf. Such incredible customer service. Thank you so much! I know now that certain shoes will or won't work for me but it's worth trying if I like something and I know I will always be treated well and looked out for! I’m not exactly sure what it was about me and my two girl friends out shopping that was so terribly offensive to the women who worked in this shop, but I have never felt less welcome to shop in a boutique in my life. I thought the point was to sell clothes? It felt like the store attendants were going out of their way to not help my sister, who was looking for pants for her office, and our friend who wanted to try on some clogs. In fact, our friend had bought a pair of pants before at No.6 previously and said that experience was normal. This was not. From the second they opened the door we were looked upon with disgust. Was it our fault it was raining outside and we were damp? Do we look too poor to buy relatively affordable dresses and business-y slacks? The attendant only provided one word answers to my sister that were so unhelpful it felt almost comical. No one ever asked how it was going, never asked if we needed help. This dismal behavior was only compounded by another store attendant’s doting on a blonde mother and daughter who were trying on shoes in the front of the store (and seemingly left without purchasing anything). I love this shop so much it hurts! The clogs and boots are, by all accounts, amazing (I currently own 4 pairs). But the shop itself is just so well-curated—I love visiting and browsing through the minimal (yet very well-chosen) racks of clothing. It’s quite obvious that a great deal of thought goes into the purchasing of each special piece of clothing. And it’s rare that I’m able to find multiple pieces of clothing at one boutique that I truly love (I’m picky!), but I manage every time that I visit No.6. It’s on the pricey end, but everything I’ve ever bought here has lasted many years, so well worth the price in the end. Also, a shout-out to the staff, who are always very helpful (my visit today being no exception)—they’re never pushy and give me all the time on my own that I need, yet when I ask them, they always offer excellent opinions and advice.
