I have brought my dog here twice for grooming.
Let me separate the experiences:
The first time was when she had an eye infection and I needed the groomer to clean up the hair around the eyes in particular. I also requested the panda special; my dog has black and white fur and the sweetest and most human face- don't hate.
Upon inspection of the cut, there were some stray hairs around the face that needed to be re-done. The Japanese lady groomer took care of it. When we got home, I realized the area around her eyes had been trimmed a little too closely to her skin. There were some bald spots around the eyes. You probably couldn't see it at first glance, but I like to stare at my dog in a creepy fashion. It took a little while for it to grow out, but once it did, well, you can see my picture for reference. She did resemble a much cuter version of a panda.
The second time around, I asked the male groomer for a bear face, rounded out on the face, while keeping at least an inch of hair all over her body and leaving the length on the ears. He did a pretty good job of the face sculpting; I would say she looked better than the first appointment. Once again, we had to clean up the stray hairs a bit.
However, when we arrived home, because I had been so fixated on the face, I noticed a dried red spot on my dog's body. I realized that it was blood- the groomer had nicked one of my dog's warts. I was not so happy with that. My poor baby looked at me sadly as I cleaned up her wound. I understand that accidents can happen, but part of grooming should be to check for possible issues.
If I had reviewed it after the first time, Pawlour might have received 4 stars. The good thing about this place is that my dog doesn't seem depressed after a cut here. The groomers seemed to have amassed many years of experience. I have tried numerous grooming places where my dog would be locked up for hours- from opening time until her mid-afternoon pick-up. She would then give me a death glare and major attitude for the rest of the night. Pawlour finished both times within the 3.5 hour mark.
It's also fairly easy to get an appointment; I called the day of and was able to secure a spot. This is probably attributed to the fact that it is still a fairly new business. On a side note, I believe that all the grooming places in the area raised their prices by at least $10, including The Pawlour.
I haven't decided if I want her to return to this grooming salon. It seems like you have to communicate down to a tee on what you want, which is fine, but there should be space left for the unexpected. All I want is for my dog to have a happy, cute, and most importantly, a safe grooming. I think Pawlour would reap the benefits of being...
Read moreI recently took my beloved dog Sebastian to Pawlour for grooming, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. Sebastian, who can sometimes be a bit anxious, seemed surprisingly comfortable and at ease with his groomer.
The groomer at Pawlour was not only skilled and knowledgeable but also showed a genuine love and care for animals. They took the time to understand Sebastian's specific needs and preferences, ensuring that he was comfortable throughout the entire grooming process. I was impressed with their patience and gentle approach, which helped build trust between Sebastian and the groomer.
They addressed Sebastian's whining with patience and understanding, creating a calm and soothing atmosphere. Their ability to handle Sebastian's anxiety and make him feel at ease speaks volumes about their expertise and dedication to their craft.
The two-person staff at Pawlour are attentive, making sure that all of our needs were met and that we felt valued as customers.
Based on my experience, I would give Pawlour a solid 5-star rating. The exceptional care and attention that Sebastian received, along with the welcoming staff, make it a top-notch grooming salon. If you're looking for a place where your furry friend will be treated with love and care, Pawlour is definitely the...
Read moreI called to make an appointment and asked how much it would be for a 40 lb terrier mix and they said $60. Amazed at the price for this neighborhood, I made an appointment.
I walked over and the two people working weren’t doing anything when I got there, just sitting there on their phones. I actually thought they were closed at first. I live in the neighborhood and asked them to call me when they were done and I’d be there right away. The guy who was apparently doing the grooming kept saying “just come in 2 hours” and for some reason didn’t want to call me, so I left and came back 2 hours later. I could see in the back that they had not yet started grooming him. They groomed him in the 25 minutes that i waited and it is legit the worst haircut I have ever seen - it’s just still extremely long in random places and the hair on his ears weren’t cut at all.
They ended up trying to charge me $85 and lowered it to $75 when I had told them I specifically called them and informed them of the size of my dog when I asked for a price. Honestly just a...
