Okay, first the hotel was sorta cool with upgraded features that I've not seen in hotels in this price range. For instance, the mirror in the bathroom was a lighted makeup mirror with built in defogger and when we finally got settled after a debacle with the 1st room, the 2nd room had a bidet! One of the coolest things, you place one of your key cards into a slot near the door and it turns on all the lights and then on the outside of your room it lights up your room number and has a builtin doorbell. It also has options for DO not Disturb and Please Clean, that you can select from so as not to have to hang something from the door! Breakfast was included, sorta weird times and not that great of a selection!
Now, as for service, where to start? So we made a reservation as soon as I learned I needed to be in New York, City. We actually spoke with someone at the front desk. She stated we would receive a confirmation email, for which we did not. So as we were driving in, we called again about confirming our reservation as we never received and email. We spoke with somwone new who confirmed we did in fact have a room and asked again for an email. They said they were having issues with the computer. Upon arrival we were unable to find parking so we sorta made a spot, when we began the check in process, we paid for a parking spot at $20.00 per night. The front desk lady walked outside with us and showed us a parking spot which we kept for our two day stay. Now, at the moment the parking garage is still underconsturction; which is I guess you would call it a stack parking garage(?); but at the moment there are only about 8 designated parking spots for the hotel until the garage Is finished, they explained it was first come first served.
So, once we get into the room, I was absolutely floored at how small the apace was. It was suppose to be a queen sized bed and it felt more like a full instead. The room was so tiny, there were literally no spots to put your luggage other than on one side or the other of the bed and then you could not walk.
The bathroom looked cool, but the shower concernd me for my husband who has had knee surgery and most recently shoulder surgery and is considered disabled. There were no bars in which he could hold onto in the bathroom and the floor was where the shower drained with very trip hazard piece of rubber that was used I suppose to mark the shower location (?). Further, this hotel had just recently opened and and this room already had water damage.
We went back to the front desk inquiring about a safer bathroom option which they told us all handicap rooms were taken and basically there was nothing they could do. After a while of waiting they offered a second room, down the hall that had two twin beds and we were allowed to look before we decided. After viewing the room we decided to go with the doubles as we could sit our suitcase and stuff on one bed and sleep albeit crowded in the other.
Again, the bathroom had the same problem, nothing safe to hold onto and a tripping hazard with the rubber on the floor.
Overall, the hotel was nice, in an okayish area and we enjoyed our stay once everything was figured out!

Read moreThis section is where we will mention the breakfast food on Monday🥺, very disappointing. The chef was not friendly, nor was the display neat. Chef if Asian descent. Breakfast was: 2 trays of boiled eggs, cold and very dry pancakes and bagels. Almost empty peanut butter container. The biggest killer was : MIXED VEGETABLES, for a breakfast item. The display was very unappealing. My grandson and I were extremely disappointed in the menu.
The pics that are on the website made our mouths water for Monday's breakfast, but due to the horrific food and display it made us believe Liberty has false marketing...so we returned to our room and ate snacks.
BUT WAIT !!!!! On Tuesday morning we could smell food from the hallway on the 8th floor, our floor. Once inside the elevator I expressed to FGI, my grandson that the food smells good and must be a a different Chef...my thought was correct. Not only was it a different Chef ... The DISPLAY OF THE BREAKFAST WAS AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWSOME!!! THE SMELL MATCHED THE LOOK OF THE FRESH, CLEAN, APPEALING DISPLAY OF BREAKFAST FOODS. THE ARRAY OF CHOICES, THE WARM, SOFT PANCAKES, THE MUFFINS, THE FLUFFY EGGS, OMG THE PERFECT HASH BROWNS, THE SOFT MEATY CHICKEN NUGGETS. THERE WAS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE!!! THE BREAKFAST AREA WAS FRESH AND CLEAN. Upon meeting Chef Seth... I could tell by his professional and personal attention to the entire breakfast detail, quality, hotel residents personal likes, it just made breakfast what we love to see when we travel. THE BREAKFAST EXPERIENCE SETS THE TONE FOR THE DAY. Many guest were glad to see him, some of them knew him by name. Mr. Seth is such a warm, welcoming individual. He told us about the special recipe sauce he makes for the nuggets...😋😋😋ohhhhhhh it was delicious!!! As long as Mr. Seth is preparing breakfast, this hotel will have repeated stays from. ALL THEIR GUEST and for Google Reviewers like us, we will spread the word about The 🗽 Liberty View Hotel to many.
I hope Liberty management/owner is compensating this exceptional person Chef Seth.
I was troubled about something I noticed before leaving. Mr. Seth had a plunger in his hand. I thought maybe there's plumbing issues in the kitchen. But I remember watching him mop and clean, very well the breakfast area while awaiting my ride share driver.
I found out that there was no issue in the kitchen but he was told to go unplugged a toilet in one of the guest rooms. I have a question ⁉️ What's wrong with this picture ❓ The hotel SHOULD NOT HAVE YOUR CHEF PLUNGING TOILETS...not at all. He comes dressed to cook ... Please management, use your room cleaners or hire a maintenance person to be onsite for quick jobs.

The long version:
My family visited me last week and, when they were trying to fly home after the trip, American Airlines cancelled their flight. They had waited in the airport for over 8 hours. AA didn't give them any meal vouchers, flight vouchers, or help them book a hotel! Many flights had been delayed over and over again and then cancelled. AA told them to leave the airport. Such incredibly rude and truly unbelievable service (or lack thereof). I immediately knew not to call any of the hotels around LGA (busy and expensive!). I called a couple of hotels near where I live in Sunset Park.
This hotel immediately picked up the phone and the gentleman on the line was so kind and courteous. He told me what the rate would be and that there were rooms available. The photos were lovely and the few reviews they have so far were all great! So I sent the link to my family and they called and booked 2 rooms.
They arrived at the hotel close to 1am and the concierge (one man and one woman at the time) helped them check in quickly and gave them an even better rate than they initially quoted me. They were so helpful and patient and efficient with my family (a group of 5 women who were exhausted and overwhelmed by their horrible experience at the airport).
The rooms were spotless and roomy. A lot of rooms in Manhattan are very tiny (which is to be expected) but being out in Brooklyn this hotel had a little room to breathe! The view was lovely, there was a small fridge, and the bathroom was spotless and large. This would be an excellent place for a family to stay on an NYC vacation. It's budget friendly but still feels special and vacation-y! :D
It's close to the 36th street subway station which takes you directly into Manhattan. There are a few parking spots available and street parking in this neighborhood is fairly easy as well! The entrance has a convenient ramp for luggage or handicap access. The trip to and from the airport via Uber or taxi is about half an hour depending on the time of day.
I am so grateful to this hotel for helping my family on such a bad night! My parents are already talking about staying there when they come to visit me again. Do yourself a favor and book your next NYC vacation...
