I went in on Sunday for tips + dip powder. I picked out a sparkly nude tone and it ended up just looking clear… and the dip powder manicure was overall pretty thick. I mentioned to the tech during the manicure that it didn’t look like there was any color and she said to wait. When she was done I told her I wasn’t happy with it as it just looked like a clear manicure and you could see where tips were added etc… she told me it was “natural.” The tech was pretty rude about the whole situation and told me the colors on the swatches don’t look the way they end up on nails. At this point someone else walked over who I believe was the owner and said no problem we’ll add a coat of gel polish over it… I agreed and wish I didn’t. My already too thick manicure got even thicker, with some crooked nails — it looks cheap (cost $99 + $20 tip) and today, just two days later is already chipping on many nails! Got this manicure for a wedding this weekend and super disappointed. Hope leaving this review saves someone time and money.
Two stars because it is very clean and the tech next to mine doing someone else’s gel manicure did an excellent job so perhaps it was...
Read moreI've been coming to Well Zen religiously for the past 1-2 years and I can say with confidence this is one of the best nail salons I've been to in NYC (and I've lived here for 5+ years). Overall the service is phenomenal, everyone is so kind, and the space is beautiful.
My "usual" is a gel manicure and a regular pedicure but occasionally I'll get a more lavish pedicure package. The pedicure packages are 100% worth it; the effort the technicians put into it is great and you can see and feel the difference immediately. When getting a gel manicure they do the usual but I've noticed that my gel manicures from Well Zen in particular have lasted longer than at other salons. Recently I got a more extravagant gel manicure with nail art and I really can't put my hands down when I'm talking, I'm obseeessseeedddd.
Again, this is one of my favorite nail salons in NYC and if I ever move out of the South Slope area I will...
Read moreI had to fond a place near home to get my legs waxed — I’ve been here once before for the same service and I thought it was just fine. But, I imagine they do not ensure that all staff receive training or have experience because.. this was the worst, most painful, uncomfortable waxing I’ve ever had. I won’t get into too much detail — but essentially, the person who did the waxing bruised my legs.. she kept saying the horrible pain was because I have sensitive skin.. but this was not the first time I’ve gotten a wax and it had never hurt this much. I was surprised. Then, I sat down to switch position and then I saw the bruising, which she said would go away as soon as she applied lotion… I left the salon hours ago. Still bruised, still in pain. And finding new little bloody patches that are clearly areas where she didn’t need to apply second or third rounds or wax (which she...
