I’ve seen Dr Gottesman regarding recession on my lower front teeth. I had this recession for a long time following my orthodontic treatment and had seen numerous periodontists since. I knew I had to have a gum graft but because my situation was extreme I wanted to find a very good and experienced periodontist. Dr Gottesman was recommended to me by my dentist in Brooklyn, whom I trust. I had a very positive impression after my first visit for consultation. Dr Gottesman was optimistic about the treatment and gave me very detailed explanations. I could feel that he really cares about his patients and I liked his personality. I had my gum graft procedure 2 weeks ago and it went very smoothly. I was very scared at first because I’m prone to fainting after long or painful procedures, but on the other hand, this situation with my gums remained untreated for years so I decided to go ahead. I’m very glad I made this decision. Dr Gottesman was sympathetic when I told him about my fear and put me at ease. I felt that I could trust him. The procedure was over within 2 hours and I didn’t feel any pain and hardly any discomfort. I received my post op instructions and followed them during 2 weeks of recovery. I didn’t feel any pain afterwards except a natural discomfort due to swelling, but it passed after 3 days. The healing took less time then I expected because after 1 week I felt completely fine. The results are amazing! My gum level went back to normal and the gums are thicker as well to prevent the recession. I am someone who is absolutely phobic when it comes not only to dental procedures but even normal dental checkups. So when I was told I had to get a baby tooth that never came out extracted and an implant put in, I was terrified. My dentist recommended Dr. Gottesman at Perio.

First came the consultation where Dr. Gottesman explained the entire procedure thoroughly including what to expect before, during and after. After speaking with him and him answering all my questions (very patiently I might add!), although I was still scared I at least felt confident in the choice of periodontists.

Then came the procedure day. I was absolutely manic, but again Dr. Gottesman talked through everything that would happen (he even said I could pop in my earbuds which helped tremendously). At one point he paused and I expected him to say “ok the tooth is out, we can put in the implant now”. Instead he said “All done”. I couldn’t believe it. The entire procedure, including the shot to numb the area, was so painless. The worst it got was at times I felt a little discomfort but that was it. I was thrilled at how painless and easy everything went.
