Ambiance (4/5): The establishment is narrow but goes far back. There are two large dining areas that expand to about 12-ish diners across each high top bar table. All seated watching the chefs prepare the food. The background music was soft and noise levels were appropriate. β¨Service (4/5): The servers were extremely friendly and serviced us quickly. We got a bottle of sake to share among our 4. She kept pouring and pouring as soon as we had a sip but it also made it hard to enjoy our beverage when it felt like if we didnβt drink fast enough, the others would get more sake to drink. There was a lot of pressuring to make you order another one, which I did not like.β¨15-course omakase for $56! This was quite a deal. We were never asked if we had any allergies/preferences at the onset. For example, I donβt eat shrimp. The quality of the fish was a hit or miss, with some tasting a little fishy and others with a tough texture. The pieces of meat to rice ratio was very generous. I really enjoyed the first few non-sushi courses. β¨Hamachi Carpaccio - in a soy sauce base of noodles and seaweed. The next was a salad mix of different kinds of fish.Β β¨Zuke Akami β marinated tuna β I liked the marinated spice on top of itβ¨Chu Toro - medium fatty tuna β¨Otoro - highest grade of tuna belly - β¨Boan ebi w foi Grasβ¨Miso soup -β¨Shima Aji β worst piece of fish the whole meal, very fishyβ¨Chef Choice β shrimp with a piece of delicious truffle on top β I did not eat the shrimpβ¨Hotate β scallop - β¨Salmon β this was delicious with a nice taste from the mushroom atopβ¨Unagi β eel - Iβm biased and love eel so this was spot onβ¨Toro hand roll β nicely seasonedβ¨Matcha ice cream β not super flavorful but not that good eitherβ¨We also ordered the Ultimate Luxe for $25 β which included Toro, Wagyu, Uni, Foie Gras β we mistakenly thought that they were separate pieces instead of one jumbo one. It was not worth HALF of our entire meal. β¨They also have an upstairs 90 min VIP omakase option for higher...
Β Β Β Read moreI had a wonderful time at Uka Omakase this past Saturday night. I went with my girlfriend and sister to celebrate my sister's graduation from college. The 3 of us loved our time there. We sat down at 8:45 and then lost track of time there. The 16 courses we had were all wonderful but some pieces slapped us in the mouth with flavor and left a lasting impression. My girlfriend, who never had sushi before loved her experience and now says that the bar has been set which might be the only bad thing cuz now she wants to come back to only places of this caliber. Honestly though, to see her and my sister enjoy it as much as they did was worth it and it's not easy to convince my girlfriend to try something she hasn't before (she's Haitian
Β Β Β Read moreDined on weekday dinner for their "Classic Set" $56 pp - If you are used to an authentic omakase experience or looking for one to try for the first time, this is definitely not the place!
Food: Chewy fish, had to spit pieces out multiple times Rice not sticky, falling apart Lots of 'toppings' on the nigiri pieces, some questionable Lots of shearing Miso soup (tasted like instant packet from grocery store) and ice cream (probably tub) was part of the 16 course meal. May be seen as "fair" as per the price Overall the food was not that tasty or flavorful, even with all the seasoning and topping
Service/Vibes: We were sat directly in front of the chef (hesitating to call him chef as he was not aligned with the true definition of an omakase chef) and he was so obviously eavesdropping to our conversation and staring, felt so uncomfortable Asked to pay cash for 10% off then directly staring at payment screen while tipping Music/general vibe is not aligned with how website is presented Felt rushed, needed to pay and get out as soon as last course was served Nowhere to put belongings (coat rack, etc) Difficult to position seat, they are bar stools but there is no footing at the bar to grip onto
Final thoughts: We tried out based on the positive reviews and the proper looking website but was shocked how different the actual experience was. Maybe because the servers keeps giving you free sake and customers are drunk and happy writing the review, or they are fake If you just want sushi for a cheaper price with casual "omakase-style" vibe, then maybe you can go here, but again, the food itself is not that tasty It would be more appropriate if they advertised themselves as an "omakase-style sushi...
