I started bringing my dog to the vet and the grooming, so I bought the vital care... I would love to say it was good, but my God, it was like pulling teeth to get anything done with this place.
Every time I'd call the vet I couldn't get through to anyone. I had appointments suddenly canceled, I'd have appointments booked and then they'd call and say "Well you're the last appointment of our day and our vet wants to leave early" which is honestly something I couldn't believe I was receiving a call to reschedule for. Not to mention the way the vets would overtly try to up sell you nonsense, even while you're in there with a sick animal. They are truly more like sales people then doctors. The best part was the free appointments from the vital care.
Then the grooming was out if control, even with the 20% off I was still spending 80+ dollars and I have a small dog. Even worse more then half of my grooming appointments they didn't take her. They would have trouble accessing my pets records and would make me reschedule or jump through hoops to get it for them. I thought I'd never have to deal with this problem considering the vet I bring her to is in the same building, but nope. I've been told "The offices don't communicate and they dont have access to the vets system" So, if the vets not available to get the records from, they can't see you. Also, I've never been asked to update my pets record for EVERY grooming appointment. Once a year is normal, maybe every 6 months, but every appointment is ridiculous. Not to mention that a lot of both of our times could've been saved if they would've just given a courtesy call saying they needed new records before hand, but no, they'd wait till I was literally standing in front of them with my pet in my arms to tell me they couldnt take her for her appointment.
Basically, petco needs to get it together. I moved and I have a new vet and groomers and they are so easy, I've had no issues since I stopped coming here. đ Trust me, the stuff I've listed is only the tip of the iceberg, I'm leaving a lot of specifics out for my own privacy, but I cannot express enough how disappointed I am with their service and I didn't even realize how bad it was until I moved and actually went somewhere good.
The store itself is good. They have nice fish, it's clean, and the staff is friendly, but the additional services they offer are just...
Read moreWe needed more of our cats prescription food. We ran out at home and our chewy order didnât arrive yet. Manager was rude & said she canât sell the food itâs illegal. Meanwhile we have the script from Richmond valley on our phones. We can go on our cats record on the portal and show itâs verified. They said they canât sell it unless their vets verify it. She then proceeded to tell us that itâs like going into CVS, itâs a pharmacy thing as if we donât understand what a prescription is. Itâs more we didnât understand her explanation on why our prescription wasnât good enough.
But you can go into any pharmacy with a prescription and they fill it.. it doesnât make sense. We explained to her, he has nothing for the night can she do at least one can with our prescription & she refused. Itâs not like weâre buying drugs, itâs cat food. I understand itâs prescription but we have a script from our vet. Just because itâs not petcos vet, doesnât invalidate it.
She didnât even offer any alternative in food, or if there was something over the counter that would be comparable to last overnight. I understand NYC laws (even though we do have a prescription) but you can also have good customer service, explain something in a nice way & offer a solution. Just to be rude & say you canât sell it & sucks you donât have food for your cat tonight isnât the way to go.
Edited to add: went back this morning with a paper prescription to petco. The manager said last night we had to come back in the morning. We go to the pharmacy & guess what.. thereâs no pharmacist. The managers response: I canât control when these call outs.. so what do we do? How does our cat get the food they need? Once again no solution offered by the manager. We have no cans. We tried calling multiple times to the store to avoid going to the store & leaving empty handed once again. But the store never picked up the phone. Thankfully our vet was able to give us some sample cans to last until chewy comes Monday. But how ridiculous!! Why is there no policy in place for situation's like this? We have a valid prescription fresh from the vets office. As long as there is staff in petco the cat food should be allowed to...
Read moreI went to petco to purchase a green glofish to replace one that I had previously. I waited almost 15 mins for an associate to help me, finally I went back to the front cashier and asked to once again have someone assist me. Another 15 mins passes, no one comes. I looked around and there were zero associates around. I then went back to the front to ask once again. This time she found another young lady who was not even in the aquatic section to assist me with the fish.
I chose the green glofish who appeared healthy in the store, I brought it home where it appeared to not be healthy at all. i should have known something was not good between the lack of customer service associates, the wait time, the appearance of the store and the fact that after my fish was put into the bag I noticed SEVERAL tanks with DEAD fish in them, just laying there. Had I not had my fish in the bag already I would have LEFT. Itâs awful really.
This is completely unacceptable and disgusting that a petco location is managed and operated in this manner. Petco should be about the animals yet they are not properly cared for.
Now, I bring home my fish, acclimate him in my tank; still in the bag until it was enough time to have him join the other 4 fish. I put the fish in the tank and it was not acting proper. It got stuck to my filter twice and is now laying on the bottom of the tank barely hanging on. Itâs only been in the house 3 hours! I will not blame Petco for this but I truly will NEVER go back to this location especially. Nor will I recommend anyone...
