This place has been a staple and a blessing for Staten Island families in need of shelter and piece of mind for many years. The services they provide are vital, essential, and should be considered a blessing. I would gratefully move into this space with my family, regardless of the level of desperation or need that we had, and feel perfectly okay, content, and safe. I have myself as a child and as a young adult lived in a couple of, or visited many family members and friends in family shelters. Especially in the Bronx, and that being said, the space INSIDE of this shelter is certain a safe space and one of the safer shelters I've had the pleasure in observing. Unfortunately the same could not be said about the street/block it occupies. One would think that being that this shelter is located on the same street as Staten Island Criminal Court, the police would have a large and strong presence and Influence of the block. It is actually the exact opposite. The power that be in NYC have completely turned their back on this community sense the wheel hasn't been built and it has resulted in purposeful chaos on a daily basis. The police and federal gov has a LARGE responsibility and liable in this case and the burden should be theirs to bear. But unfortunately, nothing can or will get a human life back, or nothing can achieve proper atonement or repair for the lives lost and ruined on this particular block. Most unfortunate part is, the powers that be will follow tradition, and literally spiritually pass the blame off to whatever and whoever they decide they would like to be a scapegoat. Sad. But, none of this should reflect onto the shelter. Inside this shelter is...

Nightmare. Don't trust the case workers especially Sandra. She lies and lies. Not there to help you she is there to help herself. they also let banned individuals inside the property. When I was there in the Fall of 2023 I witnessed 3 assaults by people who never should have been allowed back on the property. they also have a serious problem with the chairs. They claim it's first come first get but residents will put their bag on the chair to hold it. Which causes numerous problems. 2 bathrooms for about 75 people. I just went outside and pissed on the construction site next door or walked across the street to empire outlets and used their bathroom. They are supposed to give you a welcome kit (soap shampoo, toothbrush ect) I asked for 4 months to get mine and never got it. I had to shoplift my stuff. (thanks for nothing Danny) Restaurants donate food but you'll never see it. The workers steal it (fat guy who worked overnight) and they serve you food that a dog wouldn't eat. Needs new leadership and to fire all current staff. corrupt corrupt corrupt . I hope they all...
