BLINK FITNESS DOES NOT CARE ABOUT IT'S CUSTOMERS
NOT CUSTOMER-CENTRIC EXPERIENCE AT ALL - My experience with Blink representatives has been horrific and pretty much the equivalent of dealing with an automated service as they have no regard for the customer's experience.
To start - I originally signed up via pre-sale at the 54th street location. As of October, It had not yet opened though was expected to within the month as they explained. I thought I was signing up for a no-contract month-to-month plan. This was not the case. Apparently the GREEN card membership IS AN ANNUAL CONTRACT- Which they will only clearly state when you try to cancel. It is FALSELY ADVERTISED AS A MONTH-TO-MONTH.
I figured while I waited for the 54th St location to open I would visit the Bryant Park location after work...BUT GET THIS - Though I had paid for a "full access to all gyms" membership, I was actually NOT PERMITTED to use the Bryant Park gym OR ANY OTHER GYM until AFTER the 54th St gym opened. Seriously!!!!! In order to use ANY Blink gym, I would now have to deactivate my 54th street gym membership - which was a pain and created confusion around my overall account status going forward. Worth noting, it took about 3 months past October for the 54th St location to actually open!!!! Had I not gone through changing my membership to Bryant Park site, it would have meant I would have been paying for no access to Blink gym for approx 3 months.
My card was compromised so my Feb bill payment did not go through..I received notification via email and attempted to call the 1800 number provided there to make the payment but I was directed to a voice mailbox that was full - no personal message, no additional Blink fitness rep options- just a full mailbox where I CAN'T EVEN LEAVE A VOICEMAIL. Wonder if it's full of angry messages from your growing pool of unhappy customers??!!
Finally ended up speaking with Lillian, manager at Bryant Park location, who might as well be a robot as she took none of my above experience into consideration, insisted in a quite argumentative tone that I pay the full "annual" maintenance fee of $40 (though I'd been there less than a year, so what they call an annual maintenance fee has nothing to do with 12 months of maintenance incurred while you are a member, otherwise it would have been prorated for me) on top of a "Buy-out" fee for breaking an annual contract that I was told I was NOT signing originally and is FALSELY ADVERTISED AS MONTH-TO-MONTH. Total cancellation cost of to me of $126.00. Hopefully, after today, I will never have to deal with these MONEY FIRST, CUSTOMER LAST attitudes ever again.
UPDATE - Just got a call back from Lillian stating that there is ANOTHER CANCELLATION CHARGE ON TOP OF EVERYTHING ELSE which brings my total costs to never EVER DEAL WITH BLINK AGAIN TO APPROX $143.00
I move around alot for work so I avoid annual contracts-something I explained to the rep who originally signed me up. I NEVER HAD THESE ISSUES WITH PLANET FITNESS- They are getting my business back AND keeping it. Plus they charge less than $26 PER MONTH FOR ALL ACCESS LOCATION MEMBERSHIP, OFFER MORE AMENITIES AND HAVE MORE CONVENIENT AND...
Read moreI have been to many other locations but the Bryant Park is the best. 1.Their Music is always always Uplifting and exciting.I thought all Blink location plays the same music but every location was different.Bryant Park plays the best music makes you feel not get bored and make you feel like in the mood for work out. 2.Although it is in the basement the air is not bad compare to other locations. Most of other location you don't wanna breathe in those unpleasant air. 3.They have shower and hair dryer so that you can plan something after work out. Some location have shower but not a hair dryer so you have an extra equipment to carry to the gym if you ever wanna go out straight from the gym after your work out. 4.Last but not least. They have best personal trainers compare to other locations.I have watched others to go on their personal training at so many other locations.I observed them because I was always looking for the one who can motivate and correct my posture to prevent the possible injury for the beginner.I have injured myself from playing other physical activity and it is not fun at all. On March they've had free classes for women and all the trainers there were very good.I forgot their name but they were all really good. I loved it when they correct my posture because it is a such a previllage to have someone watch you and help you to perform smarter.
Justin the personal trainer could answer all the questions you might have in terms of physical injury, getting bulked up,getting slimming down and every other aspects. He has been working out 17 years himself so he knows you what you are like at the gym.He watches your posture carefully and correct you.He answers your question with broad and professional knowledge of himself being gym goer and personal training. He really pay attention to the questions you have.He really listens. He is the one who can tailor and customize your personal training. He is a hidden gem and you will be the lucky one if you have session with him.I feel so lucky to have him as my...
Read moreBlink is a company that is fraudulent and misleading their clients. I went to the Bryant Park location with my wife on January 31, 2019 to join the gym, saying that I will start tomorrow (Feb 1st) but I want to join. They said, yes subscribe today and you will get a month for free. I joined and realized that they charged me for the month for free. I went to the front desk talk to a representative and he told me that "the end of the month is offered", which was actually only January 31 (when I joined at 4pm and didn't go to the gym this day).... I mean, clearly making fun of me! I said you realize you're making a joke out of yourself, they answered to me, we have no control on the system, talk to the manager, he will be here tomorrow. I come back tomorrow, the manager is not here. Like every day when he was supposed to be here. After 40 days, I eventually see the manager (after asking every day for him and showing up at the time he is supposed to be here). The manager tells me there is nothing he can do. I said that it's not honest and under no circumstances, I want to be a member of a company that is not being honest! He said ok you can cancel (which is possible for free within the 90 first days of membership, and with 45 days notice. I was a member since 45 days - basically waiting to talk to this manager). When cancelling, Blink wants to charge me a $49.99 annual maintenance fee that is charged on the 3rd day of the 3rd month after joining, but I have been a member for just 45 days. They include the 45 days notice in the timeline, which they NEVER actually stated to me as they said the opposite when I joined. The whole staff has been misleading since the beginning and this is absolutely scandalous to act this way and totally fraudulent! !!!DO NOT JOIN!!! For the 45 days I have been there, the gym is over crowded at peak hours and you definitely feel the "low price gym" in the atmosphere! AVOID...
