Made Man Barbershop NYC Garment District Barbers — Local services in New York

I been coming here for years, probably since they’ve opened. One of the best barbershops I’ve been to and I’ve been to a lot. As soon as you walk in it’s a friendly atmosphere. You’re greeted and they ask if you have an appointment. Usually I book ahead in advance but if you don’t they can squeeze you in with any barber. I went to most barbers here and each usually provide a top notch cut. I go for the Made man Haircut and Beard trim usually. Especially when I want to relax and look like a new man! The service is about an hour and the cuts are very detailed. Just tell them what you want and they can make it happen. A little bit on the pricey side but that’s Manhattan for you. This is not one of these $15, 15-minute haircut places. They take their time and are very meticulous. I met the owner once and he gave me a cut and was a super nice guy. The place is very clean and everyone is very friendly. Not intimidating at all. Some barbershops try to come off as being “hard” but it’s not one of these places.

Recently, I’ve seen Flora here and she was fantastic! She immediately knew what I wanted without having to explain the cut in detail and she made it happen. She was very consistent, efficient and kind. It came out great and looks just what I envisioned. Even Alex is great whom I’ve seen before this cut. They all seem to be really good. They also give 100% effort. No one stops in the middle of a cut to answer their phone or walk over to talk to someone else. They’re all focused when they provide their service which is rare these days. I love it.

You’re paying for quality here and it shows. Trust me, you don’t want one of these cheap, quick places that will leave you looking like you got chopped up by a lawnmower. Come here and get the Made...

I hesitated about writing this review as I figured maybe the barber was just having an off day but after seeing other reviews about the same barber (Vicky) I decided to post.

For the price point this was not the experience you would expect. Having said that I did take the risk and chose the “any barber” when booking as it was my first time at this barbers.

The time slot was supposed to be 30 minutes but I was in and out within about 15 minutes. There was certainly a language barrier as i had to repeat what I wanted multiple times. The barber didn’t really pay attention to detail and in her own words she “didn’t really do very much” to my hair. After shampooing she began to laugh at my hairline and joked “well at least you have hair on the back of your head”. Super unprofessional.

I did not receive the usual shaving cream & razor blade shape up around the sides. Maybe that wasn’t included in the $43 package or maybe she forgot. She didn’t forget to upsell the shampoo and hair gel about 6 times in the whole 15 minutes I was there (no exaggeration). After applying gel and slightly styling my hair I was told I was finished. She combed my hair in all different directions I had to restyle it after I left.

I booked a standard haircut but the barber seemed more interested in shaping my beard line.

The other barbers seemed more experienced and passionate about their clients hair so I would maybe consider coming back and booking a different barber but unfortunately not impressed as a first...

Worst haircut ever. Do not come here if you want longer hair.

I wanted a maintenance trim so I could continue growing my hair. I have medium length wavy hair.

My barber straightens my hair for some reason and used thinning shears which look horrible how that my hair is back to wavy. I only wanted to trim the top to be the length of the bottom hair which were shorter. He instead cuts the top way to much shorter then the rest of my hair and also cuts the bottom which I told him not to touch. The sides are too thigh and the top is too short. Nothing is this cut fits at all.

I’m sure this place dose great fades and shorter styles but anything longer then that please don’t go here. I can’t stand to look at this hair cut.

I think my barber was nick. And also he had gotten another client midway through my cut and proceeded to rush the rest of my haircut. He then said if I didn’t like it I could come back the next day to fix it. I had gotten the scissor cut but did not receive the hair wash or hot towel.
