AVOID AVOID AVOID AT ALL COSTS! These ppl are scammers. I had such a terrible experience here. Went to buy a kurta/shalwar for a friends wedding event. Downstairs to the mens section where the lady Komal assisted me. She spent 20 mins giving me options to try on. But she was on the phone with I believe the owner (older desi guy). And I can hear her complaining about me (in my native tongue) how she's showing me a lot of options and I'm taking forever to decide.
Once I decided on the outfit I wanted, the price tag on all the items say $295. but these are tourist prices so they can upcharge people who normally don't buy indian/pakistani wear. She said she can give it to me for $180. (mind you the avg cost of these ranges from $50-$100) I said no that's too much, and I was going to leave and I thanked her for her time in assisting me. She was adamant on making the sale and asked what's the most I will spend. I said $100 because I did appreciate her helping. She tried to guilt me saying business has been slow lately and if I could come up more. I said no I can't and I wasn't pressuring her to give me the deal for $100, I was willing to just walk away. But she wanted the sale. She finally decided to give it to me for $100 ($108 with tax).
Next day comes, and I try on the outfit in the morning at home, and when I would button up the kurta, anytime I moved, it would unbutton on its own. So I went back and now the older guy is working there. Asked if I could do a return, and he immediately laughed and said no and that they don't do returns or exchanges. Showed me a sign on the wall showing which was covered by a ton of clothes so you could barely see the sign. The lady never told me they don't do any refunds when I initially purchased it.
Explained how the item is defective and he said he was willing to do an exchange and how he spoke to the woman who helped me. Said hes aware that I took forever to shop and how I should appreciate that I got a "good deal". I said ill be fine with exchanging it for another item, maybe shoes. He said shoes are $75 I need to spend $25 and when I asked what else do you have, he didn't give me any options.
I said fine I'll exchange it for something else. The options he showed me for an exchange were the most simplest outfits compared to the one I got that had a nice pattern/design. he's like you can only do even for these ones only. When he showed me a similar one to what I purchased he said no this one is more, so you're gonna have to pay extra. And I was confused like this is your defective item, you can at least do the courtesy to exchange it evenly for a similar pattern one and he ignored my request.
Didn't believe me when I said the item was defective and got mad. Decided to put it on and show him how the buttons undo on their own. He said he can have the tailor make the button holes smaller so that it won't come undone. So I agreed since the only options he was willing to exchange were basic ones. He asked me to come back 30 mins later and I said that's fine.
I return after 30+ mins, the guy doesn't say a word to me, doesn't apologize for the inconvenience. I said thank you, he still doesn't say a word just hands me the bag. So I left.
PLEASE don't do business with these people. They're scammers and crooks. They upcharge you & negotiate lower to make you think you got a good deal. Also the fabric and quality/stitching isn't that great. Very cheaply made. They will sell you on how this is the best stuff and best prices. Absolute lies. Terrible customer service and quality.
My recommendation is go to hicksville to Salai Shop. And the other shops around there. They have a much nicer selection of clothes with way better material and very good prices. I ended up buying a set for $36.99 from them instead. Better fabric, better customer service. Bought shoes form another shop for $35 and a scarf for $20. Whole outfit for $90.
A lot of the 5 star reviews here seem to be fake and unrelated to this shop. He prob has family and friends put fake reviews to boost his rating on...
Read moreRecently went into Rahulâs with my partner to shop for our wedding outfits, as well as for my mother, who lives far enough away that itâs hard to find Indian style clothing. We walked into an empty store, and were greeted with a quick hello from a woman in the back who never came up to the front to talk to us. Because my mom wasnât there, we FaceTimed with her to show different styles. The salesperson immediately ran up to us and told us we could not have our phones out in the store, strict policy. We explained the situation with my mother, but no dice. Okay, weird policy but we hung up. We kept lookingâwhen my partner found several pieces she thought might look good on her and asked to try them on, the saleswoman told her that they donât allow you to try on any of the clothing until after you purchase, and there are no returns. WHAT? This doesnât make any senseâa clothing store (and one that supposedly specializes in bridal) that doesnât let you try things on until the tailor is literally making adjustments? Thatâs crazy. Itâs a real shame because the clothing was beautiful, but we cannot recommend Rahulâs based on poor sales service and ridiculous policies that they could easily change. The saleswoman pretended like these rules were written in stone, but itâs a small business whose owner is apparently around a lot, so Iâd encourage him to reconsider how he does business. We left with a bad taste in our mouths having been treated poorly. For anyone considering purchasing from here, go down the street to some of the other bridal and sari places with owners who will be eager to help you find the right quality outfit and work with you on price. We had great...
Read moreMy wedding isnât until November however I could not wait to write this review for Rahulâs Couture. I bought my bridal lengha from Rahul back in October of 2017 for my November 2018 wedding, of course the inevitable happened and I lost weight from since I bought my outfit to when I was planning on wearing it. For weeks I stressed over getting it to fit me once again, especially from being out of state and finding no one that wanted to touch it. Not only did Rahul take hours with me in making sure that I was happy, and every detail of my alterations was to my satisfaction, but he also made sure that there was a smile on my face after I left (I walked in on the verge of tears because I had been so frustrated). His craftsmanship and eye for detail is out of this world; and his designs are unique. My fiancĂŠ also purchased his custom Sherwani and sang Rahulâs praises from the time it came in and he picked it up. Rahul is without a doubt the go-to person for not only bridal needs but for unique pieces for any occasion. My mom bought her sari from him as well, being as picky as she is Rahul was the only person that fit her likes and style. I read a lot of complaints about his prices however if you want QUALITY (which is what you receive when shopping at Rahulâs Couture) then you must pay for it. You get quality with Rahul as well as honesty, and you will leave looking your absolute best! Thank you, Rahul, for making my big day even more special, I canât wait to wear my...
