Sail Sunset — Local services in New York

Sail Sunset provided the most intimate sailing experience of the harbor and Hudson River of all the boats I have sailed with in the past five years as a New Yorker. Captain James Brooks takes you deeper into the harbor than most other ships, offering you a better view of the city and Statue of Liberty. Unlike other ships that seat up to 30 people, the smaller size of the ship made it more personal - like our own private tour for the 6 of us.

We ended the night with the sunset, a popped bottle of champagne, and NYC showing off and flipping its lights on.

Some friends and I booked this boat for 6 of us for a Saturday sailing at 1pm. At 12:30, when we’re all on our way to the dock, I get a call telling me the captain is sick and that they have to cancel the booking. I found this to be extremely unprofessional giving us such short notice, 30 minutes is completely unacceptable and left us scrambling for alternative plans last minute. Completely ruined the day.

I’m sure if you can actually get on the boat it’s fine, but I would steer clear of this company again, knowing how poorly they are run. 30 minutes notice is just plain rude, especially when they expect 14 days notice if the client needs to cancel...

Captain Michael and Claudia are the best!!! We had the most amazing time on our sunset sail. The captain and first mate are hospitable, personable and overall so much fun to be around. They gave us our space, but were also attentive and ensured everyone had a drink or snack at all times.

Such an amazing and special way to view NYC, we will remember this night for a long time.
