Iāve had two previous microneedling sessions with Shannon that went smoothly and produced great results. However, during my third session, I experienced a bacterial infection ā and this is where things took a disappointing turn.
After the treatment, I noticed yellow pus forming and raised my concerns. Instead of addressing the issue seriously, I was told it was just āpurgingā and that this reaction was completely normal. Still feeling uneasy, I decided to see a dermatologist, and it was only then that I learned it was, in fact, a bacterial infection.
I understand that infections are a known risk with microneedling, and I don't expect perfection. What I do expect is accountability and proactive care. Instead, I was met with a dismissive attitude and the comment, "things like this just happen." Had I not trusted my instincts and seen a dermatologist, I wouldnāt have known the true cause of the issue or how to properly address it.
Mistakes happen ā but how you handle them is what matters. A little more empathy, guidance, and acknowledgment of my concerns would have gone a long way.
I decided to return to use my remaining facial credit, hoping for a better experience. Unfortunately, it was anything but relaxing. Instead of being guided with care, I was repeatedly told that my skin was "super dry" ā a comment that felt more like criticism than helpful advice.
The more concerning issue, however, was that despite acknowledging the condition of my skin, she proceeded with the treatment anyway. While she did opt to stop using certain products midway, the lack of thoughtful care and foresight was clear. If my skin was in a compromised state, why not offer a pause, an alternative, or a recommendation to reschedule? This experience felt rushed and dismissive, much like my previous one.
If youāre looking for a skincare provider who listens, takes accountability, and offers thoughtful care, Iād recommend...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreReally disappointed to hear about the experience my mother had. I bought her a gift certificate for Christmas (directly from the SLE website) and right off the bat we were unable to redeem it online. She called and booked her appointment over the phone instead, and it seems that they have some kind of Groupon deal as well and misunderstood what she had. The day of her appointment, they gave her a 35-min facial instead of the one she had booked, had her get fully dressed and then undressed again when she called it out so that they could continue the service. They then tried to charge her $150 for the facial (the full value of the gift card), despite the fact that it only costs $110 and she had just had that poor experience. They should have verified what she had before giving her treatment, because how would they even know what was included or not. And they DEFINITELY shouldnāt have tried to overcharge her after all that! I basically paid a lot of money for my mom to have a terrible experience with a āluxuryā esthetician, and found out that she couldāve had that same bad experience at Groupon pricing. The silliest part is, my mom was looking for a new esthetician and wouldāve continued paying full price if they had given her good service. I guess itās a blessing in disguise that she can continue...
