Danny is the best, and I'm so happy that I started seeing him a year and a half ago. I've always struggled with how I wanted to cut and style my stubborn hair, since it pokes out like a porcupine and doesn't really take well to heat.

I had a very specific kind of hair style that I liked, but never really thought it would be possible for my hair to look that way. I showed Danny a reference photo, and he told me that the style I wanted was not possible during today's appointment (back in Sept 2023) but he will cut my hair in a way so it sets me up for success during my next.

He is so thorough and detail oriented, he made sure my current haircut looked good, while at the same time ensuring it would grow in a way that would help me eventually reach the style that I wanted. He even gave me an estimated month to come back so my hair would be long enough, and he was spot on!

I came back for a follow up, he suggested a down perm on the sides and a natural wavy perm on top so I didn't have to take time to style my hair daily / give it heat damage. I honestly was a little scared because of a bad perm in the past, but decided to put some faith in Danny and went with his suggestions. I'm glad I did, because this has been the haircut that I've stuck with since. It looks so natural and saves me time since my hair is basically styled right out of the shower.

Also, their perming solution was so gentle on my hair, it kept the natural waviness that I wanted, but it didn't suck out the moisture out of my hair like other perms. Another perk is that their perm only requires you to wait one day before shampoo! I suspect they probably do the Olaplex Perm method, which explains why my hair feels less damaged and the one day shampoo guidance (although I still wait two days out of superstition, thank you Legally Blonde).

I know that the price is on the higher end, but you really are paying for the attention-to-detail that Danny brings to the table. He really makes sure that everything is cut perfectly, sometimes I see him snip a single strand of hair, and wonder if anyone would even notice, but that just goes to show how thorough Danny is.

I usually come in for a hair cut every month and a half or so, and get my wavy perm like twice a year (also, no need to worry about a language barrier, I speak to them in English, other stylists can speak Korean and...

TLDR: I would recommend this place to absolutely nobody.

Service: This was an incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience. This establishment clearly tries to give the impression it’s a nice hair salon the kind you’ll encounter in Seoul, but instead it just charges the lofty prices without the lofty service or high quality. For example, it was only after applying hair toner without notifying that the charge for the haircut would be increased by $200. For having spent ++$500 (tax, tip included) on 2 haircuts, the absence of attention to detail was disheartening. We shouldn’t have to request the person holding the sponge to wipe away loose hairs from my girlfriend’s face to actually wipe away the loose hairs. That should be obvious. I shouldn’t have to awkwardly hold my own head while getting shampooed before and after the cut rather uncomfortably. If you ask me if the water temperature is okay the first time and I respond yes, then I’d expect the water temperature to be same or similar the 2nd time. Even if it’s not the same, it shouldn’t be completely different- or at least the person can ask?

Haircut: I had my haircut with Danny who did not even try to cut my hair the way that I requested. I showed a picture of close shaved sides and a comb over. He cut my hair giving me a middle part with bangs in 2 different places. He said he didn’t think it would look good to have short sides then proceeded to cut my hair in a manner that’s currently trendy among men my age in Seoul. At the end, he didn’t ask

how I like to style my hair, What kind of product I use, Whether I’d like product in my hair

Instead, he sprayed his hands with some oil or substance then styled my hair. Again, at no point did he ask me anything or tell me what it was he was doing. He never asked whether I liked how it was going. The only thing he asked was if I would like to dye my hair or had ever before which was clearly an attempt to get me to spend even more money.

From top to bottom this place left so much to be desired that it would be underselling to say the experience and the workers inside acted unprofessionally. If you want to pay top tier prices for bottom tier product and services, then Maison de Mi is the place for you. Do not go here unless you’re looking for...

If you want to ruin your hair permanently, by all mean get a haircut from Grace. Otherwise stay away from this scammer. She not only cut my hair unevenly but also thinned out my hair SO MUCH that It made me look like chemo patient. She cut my hair so unskillfully to the point where it is irritating my skin and SUPER FRIZZY and I lost 50%of my hair volume. ive never bad baby hair in my life but she thinned out my hair to the point I look like I have baby hair. it's actually insane. It will take years and years to grow it back to my natural state. She switched back and forth between me and the other custumer while cutting my hair so she can ruin my hair and cut unevenly. She's also narcissistic extremely verbally abusive towards her clients when I asked what technique she used to thinned out my hair so much . She became extremely toxic and verbally aggressive when I expressed my concern about the way she cut my hair. she claimed she knows what she's doing but she clearly doesn't know how to cut good haircut when she thInned out my hair so much out of JEALOUSY and the ends are not even clean. I had to argue with her at the salon for half an hour because she thinned out my hair so much WITHOUT MY PERMISSION and she didnt even offer to fix or change my haircut when she gave me sucu a bad haircut. This salon stressed the hell out of me. I'm never going back there again and I cant believe I paid over 100 for this type of treatment. Instead of trying to give me advice on what I can do to fix it, she kept denying everything she did and verbally harassed me, which is ridiculous. This was absolutely horrifying experience! I wish everyone to be aware of how incompetent Grace is and never have to go through the same experience I've gone through...

I went here to get a haircut about 3 weeks. The staff was very nice and the salon itself was fine. I have asian hair and I thought this salon would be experienced in cutting asian hair. I had pretty long hair before my haircut. I loved my hair style and I just wanted to touch up/ trim what I already had because my hair has grown out long since. I’ve been going to the same hair stylist for years but I desperately needed a haircut and she was booked for over a month out. So I came to this salon. Everything was fine and my stylist asked how much to take off.. and I said an inch and a half.. trim and at the end they told me I cut off 2 inches.. I really get upset when this happens because I am paying and coming to have the style I am requesting…but the hair is cut off so what can I do at this point.. The stylist was nice and they know my hair was dry and thin at the end so they took off alot of hair to make my hair healthy.. I wash my hair about 2 days later and realize even more how short and uneven my hair really is.. I requested front layers which I already had but they were alittle grown out, layers in the back and a little trim.. The “layers” in the front are very choppy and blunt like a big chunk is missing so if I dont bring the hair in the back forward my hair looks extremely short.. I am very upset.. I have to wait for my hair to grow out which will take months. I don’t like wearing my hair down like this.. I dont enjoy doing ponytails either.. I feel EXTREMELY unhappy and uncomfortable.. I sadly lost my confidence and feel really insecure. I don’t even want to go out with my hair like this.. It makes me so upset to look in the mirror and seeing my hair like this.

This is a review for Jane Kim at Maison de Mi-- I came in for a consultation and spoke to Jane with the aid of a translator since I don't speak Korean. I wanted a perm with more curls than just slight waves (which is usually harder to do on Asian hair), and I showed her a few reference photos for what I wanted. She was very thorough and honest about what she could do with my hair (which is a bit wavy but pretty fine and silky), and told me she would definitely be able to achieve what I wanted but that it might not last as long as it would on coarser hair. I still wanted it and she was confident she could do it so I came in the next week after scheduling an appointment. The appointment took about as long as predicted at 2.5 hrs, and Jane was very nice, professional, and quick. It was really obvious that she knew what she was doing and her assistant was really sweet and helpful, too. She gave me a really clean haircut first, and then did the perm, taking the sides and back out a little earlier so that the upper layers fell nicely instead of being puffed up by really curly sections below. Overall, really great experience! I would recommend Jane regardless of if you are new or not to getting perms. It was expensive ($240 which I believe is actually average/slightly higher for perms) but worth it! Picture below is first day after leaving the salon, and it's about 4 weeks later and the curls are still holding well (with proper care).
