Sid Mashburn — Local services in New York

This is a review of the product, not of the store itself. I purchased the short sleeve polo shirt from the website when it was on sale for $37 down from $125 (regular price). I received the shirt with a slight stain on it. I contacted customer service, and they stated that I could return it for a refund, but they ran out of that particular color that was on sale. I was able to remove the stain in the 1st and only wash, but then the shirt was not sturdy enough to last one wash cycle. One wash and air drying resulted in a small hole in the garment. So, I said, Ok, then how about replacing it with another color? No dice! But, hey we can give you credit to purchase towards a full price polo! Huh?? I am disappointed that the company has all of this discussion about high end suppliers, and taking care of the customers and all this, and they aren't willing to honor their customer when they provide a defective product. Mind you this is my first purchase from Sid Mashburn. The material did seem nice as it seemed very similar to a Peter Miller Polo that I have as well, but what kind of customer service is this to not provide a polo when it's defective? It seems that the customer service and all the statements of quality are smoke...

Love this store. Staff are friendly, and the environment is chill with no pressure to buy. I've bought two suits and two sport coats so far and the fabrics & cut of the garments are perfect. They are a good balance of being slim without being skinny. They have a perfect lapel width for a timeless style and the taper on the pants down to the ankle is not overly aggressive. Yes, you definitely pay more, but you can get some fabrics you will never find at mall brands or even places like Todd Snyder who charge almost just as much. Sid Mashburn is the equivalent of old school Brooks Brothers in their customer service and the clothing equivalent to modern interpretations of classics. The customer service is superlative and the clothing well constructed.

I’ve been working with Jeremy there on updating my wardrobe for the past year and they don’t make em like that anymore. Good taste, a very good eye for what works on a person and insightful ideas for pieces I wouldn’t consider for myself that, frankly, I should have because they look wonderful.
