In short - after having a facial with Diana 2 weeks ago, my face has been bright red, raw feeling, dry, and itchy in the time since. Worse part of the experience has been the customer service I receive post my procedure. Managers in both Flatiron (Alia) and UES (Iman) locations are extremely rude and condescending. The front desk staff is not helpful. There are plenty of salons in the city where you're treated like a human being, unfortunately Skin Spa is not one of them. ------- A more detailed version - I purchased a Groupon for a customized facial, but added on microdermabrasion per Diana's suggestion (I also purchased a package for 3 future facials post procedure). I explained to Diana that it was my first facial, that my skin does not have any major problems, and that I was going on a trip (my best friend's wedding) in 4 days. The procedure felt rough but this was my first facial, so I trusted the technician. My face started burning later that evening and I woke up the next day with my skin raw, bright red, and burning. My symptoms resembled a chemical burn. I called the salon and explained this to the front desk girl and later to Diana. Neither one was concerned; they didn't ask me to come in or to at least see a picture of my face. In fact, Diana told me to "keep moisturizing, wear makeup, and call her in a week". Not what you want or need to hear when you tell someone you may have a chemical burn on your face days before you're in a wedding. However, I followed her suggestion and moisturized as much as I could. I called back the following day to request a refund for future facials I purchased. The manager, Iman, was extremely rude and said that the only way the salon is able to issue a refund is for me to come in for a consultation. I asked her why wasn't this option explained to me when I called the first day. She reply was that "she wasn't there when I called the first time". After the unpleasant and rather useless conversation with Iman, I called the Flatiron location to speak to a GM. Instead I got another rude and very condescending manager, Alia. After 30 mins of arguing, Alia agreed to schedule a consultation for a refund at her location. In short, the new technician that examined me confirmed that "the microdermabrasion setting was set way too high". She also suggested that I go back to the Upper East Side location for a calming mask (this option was never given to me by Diana or the 2 managers). In the end, Alia issued a refund for a fraction of what I actually paid. My skin was bright red and raw for about a week. 2 weeks later, my skin is rough, itchy, and extremely dry (which I've never experienced before). Again, the most disappointing part of my experience is the customer service, if you can even call it that, which I received from 2 Skin...
Read moreI found this place on groupon and bought a 50 minute custom facial package. I had a few comedones that I wanted to take care of and I told the aesthetician this at the very beginning of my service. At the end of my service she told me that she had gotten rid of all of the ones on my forehead, and that she saved some of the other ones "for next time." I was a little confused by this because I had only purchased one facial, and it seemed like a tactic to get me to have to come back. I don't think that this is acceptable because when I get a facial, I expect for the initial service to be done correctly. Despite this, when the front desk offered me a package I decided to purchase it because at least the aesthetician had taken care of the comedones on my forehead (or so I thought).
When I got home I realized that the whiteheads were still there, and was overall very disappointed with my skin post-facial. I've had way better results at other places in the city. When I realized that the service was not properly completed, I called the front desk and asked if it would be possible to get a refund on the package that I had bought. Instead of asking me why, or if I was unsatisfied in some way, the front desk lady told me that it was final sale and that it said so in my email receipt. At the time of purchase, I was not told that it was not possible to return a package.
Now I am stuck having to come back to this place when the facial did absolutely nothing for my skin. There are way better places...
Read moreI had a great experience at Skin Spa Midtown. It was my first time at any Skin Spa location, and I had the regular facial with Annie. It was great service from beginning to end. I was running late because of a parade happening in the area, and it was so easy to communicate with Annie. She was understanding, and when I arrived, she was waiting for me! She took me back to the treatment room and instructed me how I can relax and get comfortable for the facial ahead. The treatment room was very clean, and it honestly felt like I was the first person in there for the day when I know she had clients prior! The music was great and added to the ambience.
Now for the facial itself?! Amazing!!! I have received facials from Annie before, but it was my first time getting one from her at Skin Spa. I could tell that she made good use of all the tools available to her. She also incorporated facial massage techniques which was great because I have been dealing with headaches and jaw pain. I appreciated getting that as part of the facial. My face felt so good overall afterwards!
Also, regarding Skin Spa in general, I think the facial rates are great, and of course, there are add ons that can be requested! I definitely plan to go back again, and I will, without a doubt, be...
