Me and my wife have loved the experience of what has been the Space Club, and we have gone to all of their locations. Each one does have its trademark style but are very unique in its execution. We will be biased because this location fits our toddlers personality the best but it’s our favorite location this far.
The play space is immense with multiple slides and obstacle courses which seems to be about 3 levels high, all netted and protected. It seems they have also won the adults over where you will see multiple adults going through the obstacle courses and the big twisty slides, 3 of them are 3 levels high, but the other slides vary in size and cater to all levels of thrill seeking. The adults of course are chasing their kids but I suspect they are also having a bit of their own fun as well. The trampoline park section was another favorite among the kids and especially my kid and another section where you see the adults having a bit of a hoppy fun, it’s amusing to see all of this.
You will find some of the same with the other locations such as the bead pits, legos (except this time it’s on the wall) but a new favorite among the kids is the magnetic tile pool where you will see walls created and even a little kid sized house was constructed which impressed me, equally impressive were the kids working together to build it.
This location does seem to be a tad bit smaller (unless I’m wrong about that) but the play space is the biggest I’ve seen in any kids indoor playground, although it’s all white to help find your red shirted toddler, you can lose sight of them because the play area has an exit on the ground floor and also the second floor, and of course due to the big size of it all. It didn’t feel crowded to me, which I assumed would be the case on a Saturday, I’m not sure if there are limits per day but it felt spacious enough for everyone.
Well this has been our experience of spending two days here of more than two hours each day, I’m sure there will be more adjustments to this place in the future but we’re having a fun time with our little one...
Read moreMy family usually goes to the Fort Greene location, but my son wanted to try the Dumbo location. There was a line due to capacity which we did not mind waiting, and the gentleman outside was very professional escorting families to the line. When it was our turn to check in, I asked the front desk if I could pay now, because it was pretty chaotic and she asked for my number and said I had an account with payment on file. There was no place to leave our belongings so my partner stayed in the waiting area and held on to our coats and sneakers. I sat in the bead pit area and saw a staff member sweeping the beads off of the floor then dumping them back in the bead pit and thought, ok that’s a bit unsanitary. We didn’t stay the full 2 hrs. On our way out a staff member at the desk starts screaming at the top of her lungs at me and my family yelling “ Did you check out!” I went to the desk and said oh I was informed earlier that I had an account with payment on file, I thought you would just charge my card. An honest mistake, but the yelling was so extreme it made my family extremely uncomfortable. She then asked me if I had a profile I said yes gave my number, she asked if I had a payment on file, I said yes, but can you let me know the last 4 digits of the card number. She said in such a condescending tone, I can’t do that. Ok! I’m a business owner and if my clients want to make sure they have the card on them I read back the last four numbers. Never had this issue at the other location. So I used a different card just to get out of this place. Her tone was so rude, and after she saw our reaction to her yelling at us as if we would walk out without paying, the apology was fake....
Read moreI would like to commend the owners for taking the time before opening this location to the public - I feel that every space/detailed area was well thought out.
I want to just also point out that this business does not promote the space for special needs kids or those with disabilities, if you fall into these categories it is probably in your best interest to visit other specialized facilities that cater to specific needs.
This place is going to be crowded, with lots of adults and kids running around. Do I worry about my little one falling or hitting his head? Yes, I do but I also worry about that in a regular playground setting or ANY play area next to a street with cars and surfaces that have scraped or bruised his skin.
This SPACE location is the best one yet, my family (2 adults + 1 3yo toddler) has visited all other locations and find this one to be the most interesting and the best part is the multi-level slides + jungle gym + ball pit.
Level 1: Lobby opens into cafe and locker area. Followed by bathrooms, Trampoline, tactile wall, scarf blowing machine and entrance to multi-level play space. Bead room (least favorite) Level 2: Cushion movie room, access to slides, disco floor, galaxy room, Magna Tiles area, LEGO area and bedazzling area.
The magna tiles is a great addition to space, and I love that there is lots of seating all around. My toddler is really engaged and we can easily spend over 2 hours in this space. When my sister visits from out of town, we also...
