Edit: I'm editing my review to one star after the extremely unprofessional response by the owners. Yes, believe it or not, customers opinions do matter. At least I never have to eat this terrible food again. Clearly your customers in Brooklyn don't get out much.
I ordered the almost pad Thai and found out a few minutes later they didn't have any left - to their credit we got a refund - and then ordered the next most popular menu item, the Chili Garlic Noodles.
The Chili Garlic Noodles were just a genuinely miserable experience, to the point where this is the first time at a restaurant, in my life, across five different countries, that I've ever put something down and not finished it. I loathe wasting food but I'm baffled that this is their second most popular menu item because it had nothing to it, I didn't know you could put a dozen ingredients in something and have it come out tasting blender than a stick of celery.
The only discernable flavour in the noodles was the heat - it didn't come after the flavour, or a spike at the beginning, it was the only thing there. After taking a flavorless bite the heat would come in about thirty seconds later and just linger there, drowning anything else out. It was like buying a cheap vinegar based hot sauce where the only ingredient is the one providing the heat and they put no effort into the rest.
The only reason I'm not giving one star is because the service was generally good, and the Massaman Curry my partner got was okay. Just okay though, since all it tasted like was a creamy tomato soup you can get at the corner store.
Overpriced and mediocre food. I had better food for $10 in...
Read moreThe staff were friendly and hardworking despite the packed restaurant, and our food arrived quickly. Unfortunately, from a food quality perspective, this was the worst meal my partner and I have had during our year of regular date nights—surprising given the positive reviews. We ordered two sets of five-piece dumplings (the house special and the Massaman). While the fillings were tasty, the dough was disappointingly dry and tough.
We also tried the cucumber dish, which started out fine but was extremely salty. More concerningly, I found a human hair in it. Though I can usually overlook small issues, both my partner and I experienced stomach problems later that evening—something that hasn't happened to either of us before. Since this was the only restaurant we visited that day, it raises hygiene concerns.
The most disappointing dish was what we had been most excited about—the buffalo chicken rice. The rice was clumpy, the chicken portion was minimal, and the sauce was poorly prepared. It was one of the rare dishes throughout our relationship that we deemed completely inedible. We considered reheating it at home but ultimately discarded all leftover food after our stomach issues began.
I wish I could provide a better review because the menu was creative with many options. However, the poor food quality, questionable preparation, and hygiene issues resulted in our worst date night meal in the city.
For pricing perspective, we spent over $50 (including tip, tax, and service charge) for just two small dumpling orders, cucumbers, a Coke Zero, and a rice dish with minimal chicken—a premium price that didn't match the quality...
Read moreEdit: A few days after posting my review, I got the expected feedback from the owner that I should "kick rocks." I cannot take offense because I expected it, and there are way worse comments on other reviews. If you care about how businesses treat customers, then spend your hard earned money elsewhere.
My friend and I decided to check out Lucky Rabbit Noodles after it was hyped up on social media and had very good reviews. We went when it opened at 11am on a Saturday. They are trying to go with hole-in-the-wall vibes with their interior, but the pricing is not aligned with that. The interior only seats about 5 people at a time, so try to either get takeout for the park or go at an off time.
My friend got the braised beef and noodles ($26), and I got the garlic noodles ($18). There is a 5% service charge, which I wish they disclosed, because I would have paid in cash if that was an option (it may not be). My friend commented that the noodles were almost gluey (maybe undercooked), the beef was nice and tender with nice flavor, but nothing else aside from the meat had flavor. The garlic noodles were very dry and also severely lacked flavor. I forced myself to finish it because of the price.
Location-wise, I understand why this place needs to have their prices so high. However, your food needs to justify those prices. Truthfully, even if their prices were lower, the noodles were not good. I think they should bring a few people in for taste testing and revamp their menu. The owner also has some rude replies on Google reviews (telling a reviewer to kick rocks), which I think is poor...
