I initially approached Baris with a relatively broad request: I wanted a tattoo with owls that was semi-abstract. I didn't give him much more to go on than that, but what he provided in return was one of the most phenomenal works of art I've ever seen. I'm biased, of course, but his tattooing is next-level, from his initial consulting to design brainstorming to actual application. The colors are vibrant and have shown no sign of fading; I get compliments on it all the time.

As for his manner as an artist, Baris is the perfect combination of interpersonal approaches: he's personable, funny, and very easy to talk to in the lead-up to the tattoo, then settles in and listens to music while actually working. It's great to not feel pressured to keep up a constant conversation while stuck in one place; some artists are chattier and that works for similarly chatty clients, but I love that Baris didn't force the issue or make me feel like I had to talk.

The studio is lovely and it's clear all the artists respect and enjoy each others' company. The space (music, decor, even the artists' fashion) all has a vaguely ambient/industrial vibe, which works for a variety of client styles. His pricing is more than reasonable for the quality of work he's doing, and he really listens to his clients, too--he'll go basically as long as they want in a single session, listening to their bodies and needs rather than imposing a time frame that may or may not work.

I honestly only have good things to say about Baris and The Base: if you have any tattoo ideas that incorporate his signature style, he can make them a reality. I hope to keep going to him until I have no more skin...

I've got the most meaningful tattoo from Ali Dundar who is the best when it comes to pet portraits. He is an extremely helpful and magically talented artist!

I've been following his work for a long time and always dreaming of my dog's portrait. My dog has just passed away and I've been getting through tough times. Having my dog's beautiful face on my arm helps me to recover. He spent more than 5 hours and always made sure that I was comfortable. The result is so much better than I ever imagined. Everyone who saw my tattoo is shocked at how real it looks.

The environment was also great, everyone was really kind and welcoming.

He was accommodating when I had to change our initial appointment due to a scheduling conflict, and he went above and beyond to create a custom design that incorporated all of my ideas. He made sure that I was completely comfortable with the stencil before he started tattooing, and he even had an idea to improve on the design during the session and asked for my opinion before making any changes.
