The cheddar & chive biscuit was really good. But the brownie was SUPER dry (hurt my stomach) & lavender tea tasted like hot water. There’s plenty of space to work and is one of few vegan places in the area.

Hi! Thanks for responding to my review. For context, I’ve been vegan for 8 years. Although, I’m not gluten free I’ve had plenty of really good vegan gf pastries in NYC, so I already knew it would be crumbly upon ordering. However, I was hoping it would be at least moist enough to eat. I didn’t think it would fall apart in my hands and cause a stomach ache.

The tea actually had to be made again because I ordered it with soy milk and it came out without it. Unfortunately the cashier didn’t hear me or there was a miscommunication the first time I ordered it. He was happy to make it again for me, but I think he just dumped out some of the water and splashed a little bit of soy milk in. Other places I’ve been to steep the tea in milk or use 2 bags, maybe try that to make it stronger?

It was really busy when I came in so good for you guys! Like I said in my previous review the cheddar biscuit was really good and there was a lot of space to get work done.

As a small business I have to comb through a lot of bad reviews too. Unfortunately, all of them personally attack me because I’m the sole owner of my business. Reading bad reviews is never fun, but I try to take feedback in stride and incorporate changes to make my business better.

Since my drink was made twice, it was really busy, and I had to get a lot of work done I didn’t feel comfortable trying to explain what was wrong with my order for the second time. I wrote my review to highlight things I liked about your establishment, but also be honest about the things I didn’t like. Taste is subjective, so I mentioned that the cheddar biscuit was good so people continue to order that and hopefully write you a better review.

Happy to try the brownie again if you change the recipe or make it more moist. You also have plenty of great reviews, so I’m sure there are a lot of great items on your menu other than the cheddar biscuit.

We were looking for a spot to enjoy a light breakfast and chose this place based on the many positive reviews. We didn’t initially realize it was entirely vegan, but that was fine—we ordered the avocado toast, the “sec,” and two matcha drinks. The food was tasty and nicely presented, but unfortunately, the matcha was extremely bitter—so much so that it was undrinkable. It seemed to be of very low quality, possibly even below culinary grade. We returned the untouched drinks and explained the issue, but the staff didn’t offer any replacement or alternative, which left a very disappointing impression. Given the lack of basic courtesy and the poor quality of the drinks, we won’t be returning.

Edit after owner replay: Since you’ve reviewed the video and audio, you’re aware of their reaction when I returned the drinks. After that, the staff member offered to remake the exact same drinks we had just returned - one cold and one warm matcha, both extremely bitter and undrinkable. There was no apology, no offer of a different option, and no refund. In my view, that’s not an appropriate way to handle...

BEEPUBLIC is a true gem right in the heart of Dumbo. The moment you walk in, you're welcomed with a sense of community that's hard to come by. It's clear that this isn't just a business for the owner (Jonathan); it's his passion, his heart and his life's work.

What really sets this spot apart is the owner himself. I've never seen someone work so tirelessly or be so deeply ingrained in what they do. His dedication to his customers (and the community of Dumbo) is unmatched, and it's obvious that he genuinely cares.

One of the highlights of this place is the Thursday night adult bingo - it's such a fun, lively night that brings everyone together. You can go solo or with a group and you're warmly welcomed (and will probably leave having met a friend). It's something special and the owner really nailed the coffee by day, bar by night vibe.

The aesthetic is a perfect blend of warm and chic. And let's not forget the coffee, food, and staff - everything about this neighborhood hive is crafted with care and the highest of quality. I want to gatekeep this place but I truly can't...
