4/23/2019 was my first visit to this place, it was unsatisfying, underwhelming, and left me in disbelief. Yet I was not the patient. Behavioral healthcare is apparently their primary health services at this place - I beg to differ. My brother sought their services over a month ago, when they did the initial interview/case in-take. The woman, Dr. Castro, who saw him that day apparently was not able to retrieve enough information from him so she contacted me. We exchanged some information over the phone and it was determined that my mother and I were needed in my brother's next appointment. My mother and I work, and I appreciated the fact that they gave us over a month in advance to plan out this visit/appointment with my brother. That was great, earned them a star. Spoiler alert, their only star. The day of the appointment came, but my brother was seen by someone who is not Dr. Castro. It was another doctor/psychiatrist/therapist. My mother and I were made to wait at the waiting area near reception. My brother went in, the session lasted for over an hour, I dare say two hours. Brother came out, and he was scheduled for another appointment and was told to leave. Could someone from this place help me understand why our (mother’s and my) presence were requested in the first place? This same question was prompted to one of the staff at the counter, all she could say (as carefully loud as she could) was that she does not know why as she is not the person whom requested our appearances for the appointment. Noted, could she have asked Dr. Castro for us? No, because apparently, Dr. Castro coincidentally have taken another patient OR conveniently in a meeting (staff meeting?) OR she could have just left the office for "lunch" who knows. So, Dr. Castro or whoever from this place care to explain why was the appointment scheduled during your lunch break or why would you take in another patient when you are already expecting one? Either the doctor or the receptionist is not doing a good job scheduling their patients. "I don't know" was was all I got. C’mon, lady, you could do better than that. Who runs this place? I can safely assume they do not know that either. Or maybe they just do whatever they want in there since no one seems to manage the quality of service there. I understand the staff's position; they are not much aware of why their doctors do what they do, they are just doing their job, getting their paycheck and/or possibly not paid enough to care? But could being a bit courteous about it and look less condescending cost her? It shouldn't. I can almost assume it does; or I could go with my benefit of the doubt that both receptionists were having a bad day. Though all things considered, the staff should be aware what type of patients they are handling with and should know how to provide information. Now, my mother and I wasted a work day for this - sat in the waiting area for two hours in the afternoon to be shooed away and not be given proper explanation of our visit. Look, my mother and I are workers too, we know the grind, but that does not make us less human than the person behind that desk. We also have financial responsibilities to take care of, just as the next person. Just like any worker, Why taking so much consideration at the beginning to schedule so ahead of time the appointment to ensure my mother's and my time? They have no consideration of others' time and resources, and I can't believe the condescending manner we were shooed away. No effort was made to rectify this and if your health center is so understaffed that receptionists are being rude to mentally unstable patients, then maybe invest in hiring more staff? re-train them? How is this the hub for behavioral health-care as the website claim to be when they can't take care of their own staffs’ mental health or have proper management? Professionalism is questionable. They failed to demonstrate the integrity of the institution, what therapist just pass their patients to another therapist around like it’s a hot potato game? No explanation were...
Read moreThis Place will rip you off Stay away!!!!!!! I was going to this place for a few months and I have private insurance , I payed co-pay for every-visit and other normal charges . Everything seems to be fine , but then after my last visit , within two weeks I received bills from Labs and Radiology Facilities and of course I payed my bills that seems to be fare and I just forgot about that! Then After 4 mounts I received an email saying that myChart billing summary updated I was not very worried at all till I logged in!!! I saw a an extra charge of $400 . After I did the research and have spent a few hours on the phone I realized that for all my previous visits to the Hospital my provider's name was a doctor's name, so in this case the amount is covered by my insurance and I pay only co-pay , but what was different this TIME they have changed provider's name to a Hospital Name, so magically all the treatment that was done 4 month ago increased due to a different code They call it Hospital services or something like that ! I would probably shut up and payed , but the problem is i have had exact the same treatment last year at the same facility with the same doctor the same insurance EVERYTHING IS THE SAME the ONLY difference this time Provider NAME!!!! So, this is obviously a legal way to rip off insurance and patients I think representative from my Insurance company was too Honest and he was saying that Provider NAME the only reason why the price is different plus the submitted the claim with " Doctor's Provider Name " first and then the canceled the claim and resubmitted it to my Insurance with Updated Provider NAME to Hospital name that would make prices for the services they did go up , so now the same procedure has a different code and my insurance covers only 80% of the coast and I am responsible for the rest 20% , but NYU does not care they just want more money and they do not care who is going to pay insurance or you . The representative from my Insurance told me that I can ask to change provider name but I cannot force them just FYI they refused of corse, I do know know if this is legal what they did , but I complained to the department of Health and I will find out what more I can do I am sick of this injustice when they legally make you pay unreasonable price and of course for not paying bills they will send your case to the collection department "TO MAKE YOU WELLBEING EVEN BETTER AND LESS STRESSFUL" that was a sarcasm just to be clear! So I called to NYU customer support and of corse the Lady on the phone knew what I was talking about , she new that I was right and she refused to do anything and in a sarcastic manner was asking. "If there is anything else I can help with" - come on !!!! I understand that This is huge business and it is hard to fight with them , but at least there is a department of Health that I can do official complain and start form there it seems like I live in the third world country now !!! I am paying taxes then I am paying the insurance then the co pay then the unreasonably overpriced services and after that they find the way to rip you off even more.......!!!! Greed and Money that is IT !!! I just so lucky that i do not have chronic issues otherwise this Healthcare system would make me...
Read moreDon't go here for mental health treatment. The front desk people are callous, discriminatory. I called the front desk because I had issues figuring out my appointment. I have memory defecits, this woman Iris wasn't patient out of nowhere she declared " On Lord" like it was funny I had already told her I had memory defecits I was confused this isn't quality professionalism, six out of eight times the intake department doesn't answer the phone any time of the day they will simply disconnect u or bounce the call back to another department where they have no idea what your talking about. Don't let the imprimatur of NYU langone deceive this is nothing but a medicad mill n if you're dissatisfied get the supervisor Allison word she disenrolled u bc all medicad mills they will bilk your insurance by holding your medicad hostage for a month from the day of your first appointment. I am a veteran of mental health treatment n I have never been treated like this which really sucks because I really need help desperately. It's nothing but a medicad mill it's not NYU run don't walk u will regret it all this applies primarily to medicad the war on the poor continue thanks Sunset Terrace for taking away my only present opportunity to deal with my mental health treatment as I can't get an appointment anywhere for months. I feel self conscious now and a mental health agency is responsible what kind of...
