I started Swim Urban for my son in Sep 2019. He was eight years old and very scared to go in the water without any aids like a tube or arm floaters. He had a small incident when he was very young and was underwater for a few seconds. This experience created a mental block and made him feel uncomfortable without any floats or if the water is above his waist level. So, to be true he was very resistant to go for swimming lessons in the beginning. He was literally begging and crying to not take him for swimming lessons. And then we finally decided that lets go for one time and then see how it goes. After the first lesson, the whole scenario changed. He felt more comfortable and was okay to give it a try few more times before giving up. It was after third or fourth lesson he was feeling so happy and proud of himself. What made the difference and his transition so easy is the trainers. The things I liked most about Swim Urban is: Best Trainers: The trainers are so friendly, optimistic , proficient and encouraging. They know when to push the kid a little more and when to encourage him. Also they make sure the kids enjoy learning how to swim. Like for example, my son loves to jump. So towards the end of the session they will let him dive a couple of times. And this is kind of reward for him. He likes to be challenged and the trainers will keep giving him small challenges throughout the session that keeps him motivated all the time. The way they introduce techniques is also great. My son has been with around 4-5 trainers. But never have I felt that there is any gap between handovers or the new trainer doesn't knows where to start with. Few times I have seen Ivan personally watching over the transition and ensuring there are no hurdles. In short, Swim Urban trainers are the best in town. Flexibility: Like everyone I am very happy to say they are the most flexible when it comes to managing classes. Yes there are many times, especially with kids that I have to reschedule the classes. And I never had any worries about it. This is very rare to see in any classes in NYC. I also want to mention that flexibility is not only around rescheduling but also for the days and timings you want to choose. If they have space they will try their best to accommodate you for the time and days you prefer. Rightly priced: The classes are competitively priced. Also they are very flexible when you want to change the plan. Moreover, if you can get yourself some spots during promotions then there is no better deal than this. Clean pool: The pool is clean and water temperature is just right. Even in winters, the water was not that cold. Communication: Ivan is very prompt with messages and mails. Also in case of holidays or any changes to schedule, Ivan sends timely messages. I enrolled here on a recommendation of a very close friend. And I'm so happy with the Swim Urban team that I recommend it to all . I am so pleased to see my kid improving in his swimming skills and he has come from beginners level to intermediate level in so little time. Thank You Ivan and team for making swimming...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been taking lessons at Swim Urban since 2018 and it has been the best investment I have made in myself the past two years. I went from not knowing how to swim to participating now swimming as part of my fitness routine and it is all thanks to the folks at Swim Urban. Below is a primer on some salient aspects of the program.
Cost: The cost for a 12 week (one class a week) semester is about $540. A very reasonable cost for learning a life skill that can save your life, especially considering that an upscale dinner in NYC can cost you that amount easily.
Pool: The pools that are used to instruct are of wonderful quality. And the St Bart's Church location has a deep end which is quite nice, as you can work on treading, dives, jumps, flip turns, and overall comfort in deep waters.
Instructors: This is where Swim Urban stands out from other training programs I have tried. The instructors here are great and it does not matter who is teaching. I have regularly been instructed by Ivan, Jonathan, and Mike and they are all excellent. They all have different methods of teaching but the idea is to work on getting you comfortable in the water, improving your technique, and enhancing your endurance while swimming. Whether it is through retrieval drills or finger drag drills, they make sure you are improving as a swimmer with fun and interesting methods.
There is a lot more that can be said about Swim Urban, but the gist is they are just REALLY GOOD at what they do. And they do it without making it a chore. Just a wonderful learning environment with tangible progress. I could not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUrban Swimming is the best swimming school I have found so far. What attracted me at the beginning( before I enrolled )is its reasonable pricing and flexible policy. It could be the cheapest among the city. It doesnāt have those super strict policies like other swimming schools. For example, many schools only allow us to do make up class once and also the cancellation should be 72 hours ahead of time. However, you donāt need to worry about those at all since they offer flexible schedule for you to choose and you can book it anytime before you come. All the instructors over there are very patient and experienced. Iām a very slow learner in term of swimming. However, all the instructors over there are very friendly whom really take efforts to guide me in according to my level. Sometimes if thereās less members coming to certain classes, they also give you private lessons without charging you extra. The CEO Ivan is very nice and he will help anything that you need about the classes, such as asking for discounts of the classes or extending the time period for receiving the classes. I really love this swimming school. It really makes me feel comfortable and feel like part of the family instead of ā customersā in other places. That is also the reason Iām continually taking classes here and inviting my family and friends to...
