Just moved to this great location and apartment. Great neighborhood, concierge staff, and amenities so far. Questionable maintenance and cleaning conditions upon arrival in new unit.
General Found some hairs floating around on the floor. Found dark stains on the floor that are not cleaned properly. Blind in the bedroom: There was a damage on the blind so the guy came to paint over it. (Eventually created fluffy surface) got a wine drip stain as well.
Kitchen One of the upper cabinet was not cleaned. There was oil stains inside of the cabinet. A bit gross. Chipped edges on marble countertop: understand that it’s very expensive to replace the whole countertop but these chipped edges must be filled or covered properly for safety issue. Never seen the marble countertop left with chipped edges before. Oven was not cleaned thoroughly. I was able to catch some dust and stains with wet wipes.
After we reported these to apartment, building manager came in and inspected the issues. Told me that they will do another cleaning and fix session as soon as the home is set up. A bit annoying to do this after the move-in but what can I do? For the blind, manager said that it can be replaced with new one but informed that if it is damaged, it will be $600 but they won’t charge us if we are fine with the current condition. I asked if previous tenant paid it and manager said yes. But then had a question of why the blind was not replaced if it’s paid and there was no information regarding the damage prior the move? Generally, I did not feel that I was fully supported from the communication with manager though he promised couple things to be fixed and cleaned.
Shouldn’t the luxury apartment manage the condition to be perfect and inform such conditions for the new tenants before move in? I was a bit surprised that the unit has not been taken care thoroughly before the move-in and I never had these issues from any luxury apartments I have moved in and felt like the unit has not been taken care after the lease has signed. I am a bit disappointed for these things as a new tenant. If you want to move in, You should really be proactive on inspection before you move in.
Good amenities, concierge staffs,...

I moved into 21 West End nearly two years ago, and to say that it has been a life-changing experience would be an understatement. From the moment I stepped into the luxurious lobby, I knew I had found something special. The door man staff, led by the incredible Chris, Shara, George, Richard, and more welcomed me with open arms and have consistently gone above and beyond to ensure my comfort and safety. Plus of course, the amazing porters and management members.
However, the true gem of 21 West End lies in the sense of community that permeates every corner of the building. It didn't take long for me to recognize the spirit of camaraderie and the willingness of residents to help each other out in a heartbeat. This tight-knit community has greatly contributed to my personal and professional growth.
In fact, it was at 21 West End where I unexpectedly found my calling as a dog walker. I have always loved animals, but it was the support and encouragement from my neighbors that inspired me to turn my passion into a thriving business. The connections I've made within the building have not only helped me build a strong client base, but have also introduced me to some of the most wonderful people I've ever met.
The amenities at 21 West End are nothing short of fantastic. From the state-of-the-art fitness center to the beautifully landscaped rooftop terrace, there's something for everyone to enjoy. However, what truly sets this building apart is the community. The people here are the heart and soul of 21 West End, and I couldn't be more grateful to be a part of it.
As I approach my two-year anniversary at 21 West End, I can't help but look back on the incredible journey I've had here. The connections I've made and the positive impact that the people in this building have had on my life are immeasurable. I wholeheartedly recommend 21 West End to anyone looking for a place to call home in NYC. Not only will you find luxury and comfort, but you'll also find a community that will embrace you and help you thrive in this...

The first thing the leasing agent told me was that the listing I was visiting to see was "just minutes ago" leased, but the agent assured me that it's not a "strong application" so I should still see it, along with different listings. She proceeded to show me listings that were obviously smaller and lower desirability overall but somehow at a similar price point. She then "advised" me that rather than wait for the existing application for the good apartment to fall through, that I should just put up an application for one of the other listings ASAP because they're very desirable.
TBH the listings were okay (although overpriced) and the amenities were great but the sole reason I decided not to even consider the property was the dishonesty, and the fact that they had no respect whatsoever for my time. It completely shattered my confidence in the management, and it seemed like a surefire indication that I'd have to deal with all kinds of headaches if I ever did decide to rent there.
I usually don't like to leave negative comments because I don't want to somehow end up ruining someone's day, but I had to point this out because I didn't want anybody else to take time out of their day or even take time off work just to waste time and have to deal with this. For the same reason I had to file a claim with Streeteasy as well (It seems like Streeteasy they're trying to get ahead of this bait-and-switch stuff).
I'm leaving 2 stars because the building itself was nice. But even so, I think I'd end up regretting ever leasing here because dealing with a shady management company is rarely worth it, no matter how nice a building...
