I had been desiring to come to La Salle for about a year. We FINALLY made it.
I fell in love with this place as soon I stepped in it. The ambiance and atmosphere are simply great. It's a tiny restaurant but all tables were busy and that didn't stop the waiter and waitress from doing a great job.
Loved the attention from the crew. It doesn't matter to them if one server started helping you and then another one takes over. It felt like a real crew. And definitely felt like they were there to ensure you went home happy and satisfied, like we did.
We started with Pan Fried Pork Dumplings, which I cannot provide a lot of information about because I am not a Chinese Food expert, but to me, they were simply perfect. Flavor was different to us but a good tasty one. Their soy sauce had a different flavor, like salty as usual but kinda sweet, it was delicious.
Then, we ordered entrees. My partner ordered: Spicy Beef Noodle Soup, and I ordered for me: Snow Cabbage Pork Noodle Soup. Again, I loved the noodle soups, both of them were savory and greatly cooked. We experienced new flavors and new food, it was adventurous but extremely delicious at the same time.
Loved this restaurant and can't wait to be back and try more of their plates.
Have to add one last thing... They brought our food in a very short time, and our appetizer as well. Everything was freshly cooked, warm/more like HOTHOT and...
Read moreDon't bother - maybe we got super unlucky, but we had poor food and worse service, better options are out there. The service was not good. When I picked up my order several bags were waiting at the counter with 3 people hanging around behind but only helping one customer. I waited for a while and they finally acknowledged me and I said I was there for pickup. The lady gave me a smug look (like I was a nuisance for being there) and turned my bag toward me and nudged it my way and looked away from me. I tried to ignore it but then we tried the food and it tasted bland, not fresh, and the scallion pancake may have been the worst I've tried in the past 10 years - rubbery and unappetizing. The sauce tasted mostly like soy. The other items were below expectations and my wife simply said she couldn't eat any more. I can't believe we paid so much for such sub par food. I was hoping this could be our go-to place for takeout, but instead we'll never be back and will advise friends to...
Read moreThe pork soup buns (xiao long bao) and beef scallion pancake wrap were truly excellent.
Unfortunately, all the entrees that we tried were either uninspired or overpriced.
We thought the pork soup buns were Chinatown quality, similar to Joe's Shanghai.
The chicken dumplings were OK, but not nearly as good as the pork soup dumplings.
You can see the problem with the entrees just by looking at the menu. Chicken with Broccoli is really the first entree they want to highlight? Are you kidding me - are we in the suburbs?
The waitress recommended the Hot & Spicy Diced Chicken, but it wasn't good. Low quality chicken in a suburban style sauce.
Saw some other tables order the bak choy, but it looked overpriced considering the small amount of vegetables that you actually get.
We'd probably return for the pork soup buns and beef scallion pancake wrap, but I need to eat some better entrees here before giving more stars.
Very casual. Chairs and tables were slightly...
