This was a neighborhood favorite when we moved into the area 3 years ago. Always great pizza and service, and great energy inside. Since then we’ve branched out to a few other local gems. About a year ago we ordered again, and it just fell flat. Dry, hard crust. Lacking flavor. It was giving bad grocery-store-frozen energy (between us questioning if we’d ordered gluten free by mistake… which to be fair to gluten free, would have probably had this pizza beat).
We chalked it up to an off night or change in management. Unfortunately we just ordered again tonight…. Exact same order, same issue. I’m not entirely sure what’s going on at Pepperino, but someone should check in. In a city like New York - for this cuisine in particular - I’m shocked this being tolerated by the droves of families flocking there each evening and weekend. The location must make it. As for the pizza, we’ll be walking the hill for better from now on. Just sad it’s...
Read moreMy wife and I live around the corner from Peperino. We’ve been living in New York for a long time and we have eaten in a lot of pizza places all around the city over the years. We’re so happy that they’ve moved in recently to the area of Waterlines Square. Their pizza is really good and their customer service is consistently excellent. But that’s not the only reason I’m writing this review. I went in this evening to get a pizza because we wanted to eat it in an outdoor plaza across the street. It was going to be ready in15-20 minutes, but it wasn’t. There was a mix up of some sort and I needed to wait another 10 minutes. Dean, who works at Peperino offered us a free beverage and was very apologetic and personally brought the pizza to us outside. Once again, their service and the pizza were both top notch!...
Read moreHighly recommend! We looked into this pizzeria because of recommendations from friends in neighborhood—and the positive recommendation was spot on. We had a large group and we pre-ordered our pizzas (which were ready as scheduled) to eat in the pizzeria. Despite only having communal tables, they accommodated our group and helped us get settled into tables as other customers finished their meals. Pizzas were tasty—our group of kids (mainly 7 and 8 year olds) loved both the cheese and pepperoni pizzas. Dean, one of the owners/managers, was super responsive and accommodating. They also have wine/beer and plenty of non-alcoholic beverages, giving any group (grown-ups + kids) a well-rounded meal. Check them out! Just a quick ~12 min walk from...
